Blogging about blogging     posted on 10th of july, 2007

So, who else wants to know what a Blog is anyway?

A blog is a journal managed and published on the web and intended for public consumption. The term "blog" is in fact a shortened version for "web log" and was accidentally invented by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word "weblog" into the phrase "we blog" in the sidebar of his website Peterme.com in April of 1999.

The entries of a blog are typically written in chronological order (as they happen) and are published in reverse order,...

Here's a link to my blog - www.barbaragordonphotographyblog.blogspot.com It's centered around my photography, and is focused on Orange County and Southern California pictures, tourism tips, and positive thoughts. I let it go for awhile, but now I'm really into updating every day. I'd love to have you all read it and give me suggestions for improving. Thanks! Barbara - posted by Bgphoto on October 08, 2007

I find I spend more time than I should reading threads and posts already, so I think if I started to add blogs to my list of reading material, I would not have time to do any work! - posted by Stuartkey on July 19, 2007

The funniest thing happened today....     posted on 19th of july, 2007

...we tried to order Chinese food and they told us they do not have rice, not one kind and asked us kindly to order something else!

Chinese restaurants not serving rice... I never imagined I would ever hear this.

It's like Dreamstime telling people: "We do not have images today. Not even thumbs. Could you please just browse the pages and only read the keywords and description"...

What is RSS?     posted on 20th of july, 2007

RSS is a protocol based on XML used for syndicating and aggregating Web content; in fact RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. In simpler words it is a fast method to get content from different web sources (like news items, blog posts, comments and messages on forums etc) and either read it in a RSS client or directly displaying it onto your own site.

The beauty of it is that you no longer need to go to the site to see if there is anything new there but instead, your software checks it regularly and gives you a message when something new is posted, in a similar manner as your email client tells you when you've got new mails. It's a real time saver for those who try to be informed up-to-date from a lot of different sources.

You get the title ...

thanks for the reference Mihaela. I wonder something else will it be possible to monitor picture tags buy RSS with dreamstime like i is possible on other platforms. I do look at some keywords on flickr and it is great to discover new pictures and photographers in your field of interest without spending too much time. But on the technical side I don t know how much work it represents to implement RSS for keywords. - posted by Lindigo on July 20, 2007
