Okay, Let's try this blogging thing. Thoughts: First we need a subject. What easier then to write about what we do here. What do we do here? We try to earn some of our investments in photography back by offering our photo's for sale. *********************** Thinking: Maybe tell you who we are. Who are we? We are Danielle and Frenk (DNF Danielle N Frenk got it?). We are a couple in life. Frenk met Danielle where Danielle was a model and Frenk a wannabee photographer trying to learn the business. Danielle needed a place to stay since she had an assignment near Belgium in a place far away from where she lived. I was in the happy circumstance that I lived very near to that particular place. Well to cut a long story very short: We fell in love.... [ Read more... ]

Part 1: Introduction can be found here Why oh why did I start the previous blog with part 1. Now I will have to start a part 2 to not look like the blabbermouth I am. ;-) Which I am not, I beg you pardon. Good, enough rubbish, time for part 2. Normally when we give a workshop we start by asking what he/she wants to reach and what he/she wants to learn. (Ok to spare me some letters when I say he I mean he or she okay). That is a bit difficult question through a blog and I don't want answers to that. However your questions might steer the future parts of this blog. Actually that's a good idea. Fire away those questions and I will try to create a part out of it. Which ... [ Read more... ]

After Part one: instruction and Part two: Backgrounds, it is now time for Part 3. ****************************************************** Originally I was planning to make one part a week but I feel like out of control on this blog thing. And I keep feeling the urge to get on and on and on and ..... Even when I know I told you I was expecting questions on which I would base a new part on, I can't help but being very impatient. I don't want to wait, I want to share. Yep I do understand that this might crank up the quality of colleagues and this might make the competition ... [ Read more... ]

Why are there so little responses on blogs? Because it's new? Because people think I got nothing to say in Lessons in studio shots? Tell me, because it is frustrating when you spend a complete morning on trying to share some of your views, tricks and knowledge and nobody reacts to it. I think one rather hears he/she stinks then nothing at all and keep asking themselves. Do I stink or what? So pleasepleaseplease have a look at part1 Part 2 and Part3... [ Read more... ]

Danielle,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Your articles are great, I will try to read them all.
Why are there so many of them left with no comments?
Because there are so many of them in all, and one has only so much free time in a day... - posted by

well i have red your articles and i think they are very interesting. The truth is very few blog articles have comments. It may be just the beginning and people are shy. I read a lot of blog articles and some are very impressing and some others are so funny or so sad. I confess I do not always leave a comment. Some are just for people to read and enjoy for a moment in their life. Laugh, cry, learn. Don't get discouraged. I am sure people really read your blogs. And maybe they will leave more and more comments. I think it is too soon to expect comments pouring. patience and keep writing :) - posted by

Day 4 and Part 4. I WAS planning to do one part a week but now find myself hooked enough to be looking for response on part 1 to 3 about 8 times a day and thinking about the next part even so many times. As you may see the title has changed. I've done this because not only people photographers may benefit from this blog and they are all about improving your photography which will automatically boost up your sales. And hey, I can do with every extra reader I can get. Since the responses are slow and there have been no questions so far, i guess it's up to me again to come up with a subject. Well the story so far started with Introducing DNF-Style followed up with [link=http://blog.dreamstime.com/2007/08/15/lessons-in-model-studio-shots-part-2-backgrounds_art498]... [ Read more... ]

Not too much time today and therefore only one tip. But it's a good one. When using your flash on location. (When I say flash I am NEVER talking about the built in flash. The built in flash stinks - Is alway pointed directly at you subject - Is always too hard of too weak - Is the first thing they should improve or remove from a DSLR) Where was I? Oh yes, when using your flash in a close environment and you have no good ceiling or wall to bounce from, try the following. Turn your flash about 45 degrees up and turn it backwards. YES backwards, don't say "Uhr" just do it. Now boost up your ISO to get a good lighting within the chosen aperture. Don't be afraid of noise, the flash will solve this for you. (unless your far away from your subject, I'm talking about 5 meters distance max here)... [ Read more... ]

Last weekend we have been out to a music festival. A two day festival of which the first day with my own band. Your own band? Eh yes and no. I don not play on stage but am the light technician since about 12 years now with these guys. Danielle has been photographing the whole show and since I'm friends with all these guys a model release for every one of them will follow, so you will be seeing the photo's here also. Photographing bands always brings you a lot of uncertainties. Will there be enough light, will my shutter speed be sufficient, will I be able to work with higher apertures etc. On all these points you have an uncontrolled factor, the lights and the movement of the band. If you have to go up on ISO be sure to know what ratio is acceptable for your cam before you get to much annoying ... [ Read more... ]

Hobby, you are welcome.
Achilles they are called Gail Of God and you'll find them following our website and adding /recent to it. Go to the map called Booch?
Bouch: Since I work for these guys I will get modelrelease of all of them and we will upload some dark live material soon. As soon as we have new bandwidth that it, because that stinks here in Belgium.

I guess DT admins will have themselves a handful now checking blogs rewarding credits for it, reading blogs, commenting on blogs etc etc. Did they know what was coming for them? To give them some help and a hearthfelt thank you I write this blog with: Answers to some questions I know the answers to and read about in other blogs. But first a remark: Yes blogging boosts up your sales. How? Anything that attracts attention to you does. ************************* Here's the lessons of today: ************************* Question: Do I get credited for writing a blog Answer: yes one credit for each APPROVED blog. Question: approved what do you mean? Answer: each blog will have to get approved in order to receive a credit. Question: So I can't just write hello to all and receive a credit?... [ Read more... ]

So this blog has been approved and awarded one credit.
As I thought these photo's were not really related to the subject. But in fact they were because I was trying to prove something by placing them. I think next blog I will use one of someone else and ask this person if, after approval they get a credit for the fact that I used it in one of my blogs.
As thanks for the use of the image he may use this credit to buy one of my pics gheghegheghe NOT or ?...........

Is that right about the image use credits then? A couple of users have just used images of mine in their articles (I received a comment on the images telling me so) for the first time, so when the articles have been reviewed I will receive credits for each one? Cool. I think it's right that we don't receive credits for using our own images though! ;) - posted by

Thank you so much Hobby and Tangie. I know you get credits for all photo's used but I think what I will proof with this one is that the DT admins have a tough job deciding if a photo is an addition to what is being talked about in the blog or not. They do one hall of a job here. A job I would gladly sollicitate for. - posted by

Do more of you have questions you can not directly find an answer to? Do you have remarks about blogging you can't get answered or don't get answered. Ask them here please. I'll start of with my own and build it up in the comments and I will add them in a follow up Blog. ******** Remarks: * When will there be a follow up function on blogs. I want to follow up on my comments on other blogs to see if there has been a response. Now I will have to look through all blogs or bookmark every blog I want to follow up. ********* Questions: * What are the rules about the blog credits? I know it's not about the credits but hey if I get them I want to know why and how? * What makes a blog appear in the hot topics * What makes a blog appear in the usefull ... [ Read more... ]
