Bringing an old town to life     posted on 11th of september, 2007

Lately I have been having trouble finding things to photograph in my area. I know that any one of you could come to my town and probably find hundreds of fascinating images to shoot, but for my driving the same streets everyday and seeing the same buildings hasn't sparked any excitement.

Do any of you feel the same way about where you live. I would love to see some pictures of places that surround you.

Don't feel that bad... I know if you look much closer you can find some fascinating views... Try grabbing your camera at sunset and sunrise in your town...

i told my husband this very thing this morning...everything looks so common place nothing stands out. but it will when i start to look at it differently , through a photographers eyes and not just the home town girl.

Yes, that's a common thing - we can hardly see any exciting things in our immediate surroundings - everything's just too obvious.
I'd love to visit you and show you what potential your area has! :)

It was taken in South Carolina in a smallish town called Greenwood.

I think everybody feels that way sometimes. You just get used to seeing the same old stuff and forget that a lot of it is actually beautiful or interesting.
At the same time, sometimes you see something you've never noticed before and it makes a great photograph.

I noticed that the morning light was just beautiful on one of the only tall buildings in my town.
