Mid-Autumn Festival     posted on 25th of september, 2007

Today (Asian time) is Mid-Autumn Festival in Chinese culture and most people will have a holiday to spend time with their families. It's a very lovely festival that we will celebrate the full moon with lantern and a special food called Mooncake. (Kids are most excited because that's the only day they're allowed to play with fire ;-)

I'm glad to share our happiness with you. Cheers!

Yes, I like the isolated mooncakes which give high degree of flexibilities for visual graphics. - posted by Charon on September 26, 2007
Hello all! Happy Mid-Autumn festival!

Although Malaysia is a 365 days summer country, we celebrate mid-autumn festival too.

Thanks Charon for choosing my image. ^_^

Hi Teresa, most tradictional mooncakes are made of paste from lotus seeds and embedded with 1-4 yolks of salted duck eggs. Modern mooncakes have plenty of choices like different bean pastes or ice-cream with different flavours, they are more attractive by new generations. Other varieties like the filling with gold leaves or dried seafood could be more expensive but good for a gift. - posted by Charon on September 26, 2007
I find it very interesting how different cultures and societies celebrate the times of the year. Nearly every culture, society, and religion have a celebration on or near the equinoxes and soltices. I love learning how other cultures celebrate life. :) - posted by Kenneystudios on September 25, 2007

Those mooncake pictures look very good! What is mooncake made out of? Does the cake, or its ingredients, symbolize something pertaining to the festival? - posted by Kenneystudios on September 25, 2007
