The Friday blog: what's the difference between pictures and photographs     posted on 28th of september, 2007

Did this question ever come to your mind? What is the difference between a picture and a photograph?

I consider pictures to be all those images we take out on vacations, family reunions, meetings with friends, snapshots that don't require us to think of the composition, lighting, setup or anything else.

Photos on the other hand, are those images that need our photographic talent to be put in motion, we have to think how the lighting will be, if the subject is well lit, if the composition we chosen is harmonious, if the setup isn't too crowded or too empty or unbalanced and if the image has a powerful idea or not.

There are stock images that are so perfect exactly because they are photographic replicas of the family snapshots that anyone can take with the only exception that they are stunning....

A day in the editor's life     posted on 7th of september, 2007

Morning wake up is at 8 AM for me, too early if you ask me but I have to travel the whole town to get to office so here comes the oh_so_hated ring of my alarm (sound)alarm clock(sound).

Then I take that five_more_minutes_in_bed time before I finally make up my mind and go to the bathroom; I usual hit the door with my head because I'm too sleepy to keep my eyes open. Ok, there is not picture for that so just imagine it.

After this comes the brush_my_teeth part and wash my face with cold water maybe I can get my eyes to open. I don't use make-up so I'm good to go in 5 minutes.

So, get my clothes on, pick up food for the neighborhood kittens that wait for me in front of my home (they know me by the sound of the plastic bag I bring the food in, don't ask how, they just know ...

Eleven stations? That's about in the other part of the city. I hate the subway in Bucharest too. I'd rather spend 2 more hours waiting at semaphors in the over-crowded intersections in my car. - posted by Xalanx on September 12, 2008

30 years for equality and freedom     posted on 6th of september, 2007

There are people in this world who are willing to give away their lives, their time, their whole selves to obtain the freedom and rights of their people.

When Martin Luther King said his famous "I have a dream" speech on August 28, 1963 during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom a lot of things have changed.

His entire life was devoted to ensure equality among all the citizen of the United States in a time when racism was a state of mind considered normal. Although he went under severe stress in the years when he led the American civil rights movement and his life was under continuous threat he never gave up on his beliefs. His death was as big a milestone as his carrier, it made things change and turn into what they are today.

On the other side of the world one man sat in prison ...

We do need to remember, we also need to realize that what they did can not be lost, through wars and political situations. - posted by Nikitu on September 28, 2007
Thank you for reminding everybody how these two great men changed the world around them, made life so much better for so many while sacrificing their own... We need to remember. - posted by Cathysbelleimage on September 28, 2007
Very good reminder! When one thinks about it it's amazing how cheap the reasons for division among people are... I would call it unbelievable if it wasn't a sad reality for many people today. The love for all matters indeed. - posted by Petarneychev on September 06, 2007

Dreams are just that, dreams     posted on 31st of august, 2007

How many times did you dream you can fly

like the mighty Andean condor over the snowy steep peaks of the highest mountains.

Did you wake up with that feeling that you are lighter then a feather and had a great morning just because of that dream which actually only lasted a few seconds, maybe less? But it seemed so real!, that is the first thing you can think of.

Then you grab your things and go back to your modern city jungle, where you get splashed by vehicles on a rainy day or get squashed in the subway so that you won't be late at work. "Please hold that door for me!"

By the time you got to work you probably forgot all about that wonderful magic dream you had and the only way you are going to fly is if your boss ...

What a poetic blog :-). I would just add one thing - dreams are also the very beginning of everything. In my opinion, there is a dream first and then we realize it :-) - posted by Starblue on August 31, 2007
Well, to me flying is not just a dream. I believe that on new earth, new Jerusalim, which be created from Jesus for those who are faithful to him, he will give them that new earth. And like He promised, we will flying like angels.last days will coming soon, so let's prepare for it. - posted by Icyimage on August 31, 2007

I know what you'd do this summer     posted on 20th of june, 2007

Lean back in the perfect tropics sun on a perfect tropical island having a nice cold drink simply relaxing and enjoying the well deserved peace and quite after a whole year's work. Catch a boat ride and maybe scuba diving, look for the treasure do those things you've never done.

Or maybe you're more of the mountain type and you'd rather wear you warm clothes even in summer. And probably you also like camping the middle of nature, feel the smell of the wild flowers and the grass, stay in the wind ... "watch out for the bear!"

The more adventurous version of the mountain type vacationer goes to higher places and feels everything a few times harder than the rest of us. Well will you be this year, Everest camp 5?Good luck up there, I heard the air ...

The morning wake up     posted on 13th of june, 2007

Got your coffee today? The corporatist type of coffee? Leaving early in morning, I got my coffee at work, work while drinking it. Try not to spill that on the report, it will definitely ruin my day. Relax for a bit in the sun coming through the window (although the air conditioning in the building certainly makes it cooler). Not a bad way to start a working day!

Or maybe the drink-my-coffee-in-bed type? Too lazy to get up so early. Lucky me that I have such a sweet husband/wife who takes such care of me an brings me a nice warm coffee in bed. Now the day is certainly starting the right way!

Enjoy the nature with a coffee. Woke up this morning and unzipped my sleeping bag and my tent, washed my face in the cold mountain spring, boiled some ...
