Renee Cologne is a self proclaimed drama queen. And with inspiration from the flamboyancy of Queen, ELO and Barbra Streisand, why shouldn’t she be? It wasn’t always like that.
Born to a traveling circus troupe, based out of Raleigh, NC, Renee was an introverted child who dreamed of ‘normalcy’. The bearded lady felt sorry for her and bought her an Easy Bake Oven, from which she made cupcakes and sold them to the kids attending the circus performances.
Once the music bug burrowed in, there was no stopping Renee. Combined with an uncanny curiosity for everything mechanical about the music biz, she received a degree in recording engineering from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Boston.
“I was always interested in how things worked. I wanted to know ‘where does that wire go?’ or ‘what does that button do?’”
The need for normalcy, the passion for music and the curiosity about musical mechanics finally came together.
“Rock and Roll Housewife” is Renee’s fourth album. It came together over a three year period while she changed diapers, made dinner and folded laundry. It is a conglomeration of unique musical sounds that she uncovered out of her curiosity.
