hello everyone just to say im starting my new journey in photography next tuesday as a mature student next Tuesday evening.im really looking forward to it although i feel a little nervous as i have not been in any formal training for over 12 years now.i am self taught in a lot of various skills ranging from computers to DIY but this is my passion that i would like to make a profession.anyone else have these dreams or have you made them a reality , i would like to know.i have a lot to learn but when you enjoy your hobby its not a chore to learn more is it.any advice on what to expect for me would be much appreciated. regards jason.

Haaa! What to expect? parties, fun, tons of studying, library trips, sleepless nights, clubbing....yey! Kidding :P. I guess you need to arm yourself with loads of patience, willingness to listen and learn, pen, pencil, highlighters, camera, backpack, apple for the teacher, lunch sandwich, papers, warm thick clothes :P and that's it. What to expect: the best of course. It comes with time, experience, lots of practice and studying. At least this is how studying worked out for me. Not to mention following my heart. - posted by Tangie on October 12, 2007
Jason, expect everything you thought it would be because it will. You are going because for once in your life your heart is leading your brain. Good luck and stay the course. Dave - posted by Dcwcreations on October 11, 2007

My first day at college in photography     posted on 16th of october, 2007

Hi all, I did write a blog last week stating that i was starting college next week (today) and was asking you opinions on what to expect. well that day arrived today it is only part time evening course and i am starting late actually 3 weeks into the course already, but its no panic as i am not a complete beginner and was familiar with what the tutor was talking about.what tonights lesson was about? CAMERA APERTURE AND SHUTTER SPEED SETTINGS. Basically running threw all the aperture and speed settings of the camera example 100(slow) shutter speed is good for outdoors shooting and 400 (fast) shutter speed is good for indoors and you can get away with not using a flash at this setting.the lower the shutter speed(30) the more likely you are to get shake or blur in your image....

Hi Jason, my situation is similar to you in this year because I'm taking a VM course after leaving the university for 10 years! The study is not easy coming with huge workload and exams, but still happy because in this course I could make new friends and even new clients. - posted by Charon on October 16, 2007
