Going Exclusive?     posted on 12th of november, 2007

I am trying to decide if I should go Exclusive or stay 'out' and continue to sell with a number of different site.

Currently I have the option to go exclusive with two different site and I have been weighting the decision; Is it better to be 'in' with one site or 'out' on the web with many?

What are your thoughts?

It depends on what you want to do and the time you can spent for this activity.
For my part, I work with differents agencies and I guess it gives me more cash... but it takes time.
Good luck !

I think if you have an established name in photography industry and you can promote your work also without the help of stock agency (you have your own highly visited website, you promote your work via advertisements in magazines or other publications, you have your photos on exhibitions etc., etc.) then it's a good idea to select an agency whose terms suit you best and go exclusive there. That's one thing to think about. Another would be the fact that a lot of microstock industry stars (like Andres Rodriguez, Yuri Arcurs, Iryna Kurhan, ...) have their portfolios in many stock sites. Why? To have an accurate answer, you should ask them, I can only imagine, that it's because they can reach to greater number of clients that way, or maybe stock industry is still too young and they are waiting to make their decision, which agency they will stick with. Just a guess. But if you are just hobbyist and you don't have a lot of time for your hobby, just a little, then I think it's also wise to find an agency that you like most and go exclusive. So it all depends on what kind of goals you have, where you want to go. But that's only my opinion. :) Good luck to you!
