Shall I search before shoot     posted on 6th of december, 2007

Usually, when i have a good idea,i just make a plan and shoot with pleasure. But this has just changed after I registered here on dreamstime.I will search the web to make sure that it's a unique idea not being covered yet.I don't know whether it is a good or right habit to do this. But it do reduce my enjoyment truly.

Well, suppose we don't do this job before shoot, how can we guarantee no similar images uploaded before or how can we say you didn't steal from others if you both upload a similar image?

Susan Sontag, the American scholar used to say,the existence of everything on earth end themselves in pictures nowadays(mainly like this).

We have so many pictures already and are producing more and more.If we'd rather think of our work as a document more than an art work, shall ...

I think, the question is … should you search before every shooting? Does it worth the time you gona spend in searching? Where to search & how many one you will search? !!! If you keep this idea in you mind (searching), will you be able to concentrate on making a professional shoots? Throw is idea behind you, & concentrate on making a perfect shoots. Creativity can’t be the same between people. - posted by Adsc on December 26, 2007
I think that you need to browse. You should not focus on what object to shoot, but to explore the best way to shoot an object. I agree with Scubamann. The same object looks totally diferent in another environment. - posted by Omegatransfer on December 07, 2007
This is a good question, should one search before shooting. A duck is a duck but the presentstion of the duck lighting, water color, background, and action are what makes a shot art. - posted by Scubamann on December 06, 2007

never jpeg again     posted on 29th of november, 2007

I'm a newbie, but I hope the follows helpful.I must say that i'd rather camera jpeg before, simply because it's easy to check the image or overview.Maybe it is the experience of using dc that contribute to this habit.

Usually i adjust a pic with photoshop, but i found it good enough to do so with nikon capture software if you shoot raw.I use nikon d70s btw.As many bloggers here mentioned ,you can do more adjustment with raw format, even the original white balance. So finally i understand why most designers prefer the raw.

And what taught me a good lesson is like this:

I lost an opportunity to sell an image because i can't just provide the raw format when a potential buyer asked for it.That happened a couple days ago.

Want your images sell better, shoot raw!

Ideally it would be nice if we could just upload only the raw file, but dreamstime would *display* the embedded jpg file. The customer should then have the option of buying if the photographer allows it. - posted by Goodlux on December 22, 2007
