I was so happy to see that 6 of my first 38 submitted files were accepted! Of course a higher percentage would have been better, but I feel like the rejections will help me understand the requirements more completely. A bit of a thrill to see that little copywrite C next to my name... :)

How thrilling for you, congrats and welcome also! You have a lovely collection of images here so far! ;) And, thanks kindly for your comment on my first blog... I also enjoy the seascapes and desert regions... ALL landscapes appeal to me overall.... - posted by

I feel for you, I have had the same thing, but practice makes perfect. I am up to 17, but as I get some of the rejections I am starting to understand more where I lack the technical skills. Keep shooting ;-) - posted by

Thanks Charles! I was pretty happy that my percentage of acceptance has increased. I've been a lot more selective on exposures especially. :) - posted by

If Michaelangelo can say it - so much more can I! 2 more images accepted. Still none sold. But I'm learning, and trying. I'll keep uploading! And looking at the boards and the other photographers. So much to understand still.

Your display of how you see the world is very respectful and you are doing well capturing your views. After viewing your port and reading your comments I would like to share this. Shooting art is very satisfying but commercial images sell. These are two different concepts. The majority of commercial images purchased are of everyday people and the issues they face. It is my opinion that once you take the plunge and shoot people images you will notice an increase in your sales. Best of luck. - posted by

As with all stock sites everyone says sales come with more uploads, and it looks like you are on the right path. - posted by

Making progress slowly. I've learned a couple things about stock photography as I've been uploading. 1. Pretty is nice but good light is better 2. The shot must support more than one story 3. I still don't have a handle on 1 and 2 I'm hoping there isn't a penalty to trying too hard. :)

I love point #2! Number 1 is pretty good, too. It's been tough for me to transition from trying for 'pretty' photos to stock shots that might sell. - posted by

Happy to report that my first sale occurred yesterday. How cool is that! I don't know who bought the image, but whoever they are, thanks for the encouragement. May this be the beginning of many many more.

I've been taking photographs since I was in my early teens, and I embraced the digital format in 2003, almost 40 years later. Now, I'm venturing into selling my work, and my entries on Dreamstime are my first effort. Please feel free to provide comments and criticism - I am always learning! I maintain a Flickr photostream as well as my blog site above. My user name on Flickr is AmyEmilia (surprise, eh!)
