PayPal In Estonia - It's Working!     posted on 1st of february, 2008

It's official now - PayPal works in Estonia!

In September 2007 PayPal announced that PayPal started to offer account balance withdrawals to Visa-branded credit, debit, or prepaid cards in 26 international markets. Listed new countries were: Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Cyprus, Estonia, Gibraltar, Iceland, Indonesia, India, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Philippines, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, UAE, and Uruguay.

Yesterday I received my first payment via PayPal. Due to my ignorance it took almost 3 weeks, but after discussing with my local bank office and clarifying needed procedures, next time it will be couple of days, like it should be.

So, how it works?

1) I request a payment from stock agency

2) After couple of days I get email from PayPal, announcing that payment is arrived

3) I go to my PayPal account and withdraw the needed sum to my credit card

4) Due to the type of my credit card, I have to remind my bank to perform the transaction and put money on my card. If I don't send them the reminder, they will do it automatically after 30 days of waiting time (but that delay is only because the type of my credit card)

5) And that's it, money is on my credit card later the same day or next day

So yes, it's proven, you can receive money via PayPal in Estonia.

:) You are welcome, Marko. Yes it is a big deal, but as you can see from my post, I learned it too 4 long months after the launch... :) But I still prefer to use MB as long as DT supports their service. So far MB is the best and fastest for me.

I'm not doing a business, so €500 daily is well more than enough for me. Don't know how good partner PP could be in big business.
PP charged 30 EEK, it's about $2.8 something, I guess. It's almost double than MB's $1.5 and less than charges on check - 1.5% and minimum 100 EEK, or $9.5 in my bank, which is Hansa.

the problems are:

1. awfully low daily transaction limit. it's 500euro.
2. if you withdraw more than you spend with credit card, it's a pain to actually GET your money. unless it's Sampo Gold wich has an ordinary account (not tested yet)

how much did PayPal charged you for entire transaction, by the way?

Thanks, Yuris! It's good to be aware about different dangers what are connected with Internet services, just as with any business. Link you provided is great, but that "Click Here For The #1 PayPal Alternative" makes me cautious toward that site too... So, I guess time and experiences will show, whom we can trust, just as in every other area of the life. :) But thanks for the link! Good to know.

That's sad, Nikola. But me too, I hope it will change soon. Good thing is that Moneybookers is still working, isn't it?
