Limericks     posted on 18th of february, 2008

In keeping with my promise to write something totally useless here; something with little or no redeeming qualities; something that while having the appearance of lucidity, in fact caters to our base and more primal functions, I give you the first of what may be several (or not), Photography Based Limericks. Please feel free to add your own or assail them as you wish. And since it is unlikely that I will receive any credits for this, please don't assume that this was a cheap attempt to get free credits. :)

There once was a woman from Crockett,

Who kept her best lens in her pocket,

But while climbing a wall,

She took a bad fall,

Now the lens is so hosed she can't hock it.

A spendthrift used Rubber Cement,

To patch up his old camera's dent,

But he dropped it one day,

And the thing bounced away,

And he's yet to find out where it went.

Along with these Limericks I'd like to post a couple of my photos here, that have nothing to do with the Limericks, but are, I think interesting enough.

Well, actually they lease some of their land to them...

You are correct. The view from Artesa is a grand one, depending upon the time of the day and the particular cloud formations. So I'll assume your friends are part of the Carneros Clan?

Fun! All tree images are beautiful, but I do like the pano best; maybe it's because the red barn is one of my friend's house (I actually took a shot from the same spot, Artesa?, and gave a print to them that they now have on their wall!!)It is also with fall my favourite time of the year here in Sonoma... The mustard season is now over, unfortunately... Great work, Don! ;O)

I am too shy
to write my rhymes...

Thanks. . and feel free to add a Limerick or two of your own design.

If you didn't, I can give you one. I just love those limericks. They definitely deserve at least a credit... ;)
Comment by Maigi on February 19, 2008
Well, did you get the credit? ;P

Well, I tried to work in the Nantucket angle, but was severely limited in my choice of rhyming words as you probably can imagine. I had similar issues with the words Debussy, Venus, and Uranus. :)

Isn't there a limerick about a man from Nantucket? Nice shots by the way.

Thanks Denise. :) I'm going back to the Napa valley tomorrow. The mustard is in bloom between the wine rows, and it'll be like that until they cut the mustard down in a couple weeks. Its such a stunning part of the year.

LOL... I did enjoy reading your limericks and your short little first paragraph above here also! What a view on that there panorama image, all 3 photos are a treat I think! And, thanks so much for stopping by, reading AND commenting on my first ever blog! ;~)

Thank you for your nice comments. Its funny, but my favorite of the three is the panorama. You can't see it in full resolution of course here (which is another one of my pet peeves with the site) but the panorama is a full 17mp rendition and at full size is pretty spectacular. But I agree with you that the lines in the other shots are compelling.

You are TOO funny! I think I like the Vineyards and Mustard best. Probably because of the lines.

    About Me
Don Mace (Lightart)
The Left Coast, US

Creation stands alone. Any conceptual meaning or value is contained solely within the boundaries of the work itself. Art, to me, is simply a primal desire to express truth or beauty (some say they are the same thing). It also may be simply the desire to convey a profoundly moving effect. To that end, the viewer either 'gets it' . . or is not moved.
