The acceptance of this tern image surprised me because I figured it was too "ordinary" of a composition. But the light was pretty and the water had an interesting texture, so I tried anyway. I've been paying attention to family matters (my mother had an aortic valve replacement on January 28th). All is well now but we did have a bit of extended time at the hospital. I only took a few photographs - for some reason my creativity was not at its peak! :) Anyway I am back home now and beginning the search again for interesting subjects to photograph.

Thanks Charles. I guess it really was the texture that brought it through. I'll have to add that as a keyword!
I appreciate your thoughts about Mom. Her staples were taken out today and they said she is continuing to do well, so we are happy about that. - posted by

AmyEmilia, for what it's worth, I think thats' a gorgeous photo. The bird is beautiful, but what really gets me is the texture and color of the water.
I hope your mother is doing well. I'll be keeping her in my thoughts. - posted by

Many thanks to Charles for inspiring me to figure out how to create a collection. He started one on Non-Christian Houses of Worship. I'll reprise in this blog entry some of our conversation about that collection, and starting the Texas collection: I thought about what collection I would really love to curate. And The Great State of Texas collection was born. Surprisingly there was no collection (as far as I could tell) devoted to the state. Anyway - it took me a while to figure out how to add a photo but I did figure it out. My method was to use the search keyword "texas" and then just work my way through. First I used the descending download order, and then tried the ascending upload order to pick up the new stuff. The definition of the collection is kind of ... [ Read more... ]

I'm happy to say that my percentage of acceptance has gone up from 23% in January to 45% in February. Maybe I'm getting the hang of picking out stock-worthy photos - or maybe I'm just lucky. Just recently discovered the Statistics section in the Management Area. Kinda fun. Would be even better if that Earnings line was going up. Thanks for all the help on keywording, I really appreciate it.

AmyEmilia, you have high quality photos that will find buyers--or, rather, buyers will find them. I think this is a snowball type momentum. It will start slowly, and then going on its own steam. The best part is that your portfolio is super, which is in the end what really matters. - posted by

Grats! Yeah, after you find the "swing" of things, you sail a lot smoother. Took us a bit, but we've got it at a decent clip now. Good luck! To many, many downloads, and many more uploads! - posted by

(Amyemilia)
Houston, US
I've been taking photographs since I was in my early teens, and I embraced the digital format in 2003, almost 40 years later. Now, I'm venturing into selling my work, and my entries on Dreamstime are my first effort. Please feel free to provide comments and criticism - I am always learning! I maintain a Flickr photostream as well as my blog site above. My user name on Flickr is AmyEmilia (surprise, eh!)
