Not too long ago I made a series of illustrations for St. Patrick's Day holiday (and, yay, I even got my first editor's choice for one of them - that's the one on the left; really excited!). In any case, they are all based around the idea of an "Irish Universe", or "Irish planet" with green-ish colors, colors of the Irish flag, and, of course, with shamrocks and clovers. And if only you could zoom in you would see that the landscape and terrain of all these Irish planets is also made up of clovers and shamrocks. Aaah...
I also tried to make these illustrations as large as possible as they are not vector illustrations and, in my mind, a good alternative approach to giving designers the much appreciated flexibility in terms of what they can do with my images is to make them large. Then designers could crop them as tight as they want, vertically, horizontally, they can zoom in, they can cut out parts, etcetera - and still have a fairly large image remaining. Thus, all my Irish universes are large - 15-20 megapixels. Chop away, designers !
And then I realized: I really like creating different space- and universe-related designs. I have already created a whole series of different planets and universes - with different colors and diffferent ideas. And I am planning on creating more. May be I just found a small niche for myself? See, most images of planets, whether they are our good ol' earth or some random abstract planet are just that - planets, on a simple background - on black, or on white, or on some random color. And there are not too many designs that are - designs, or that have an idea or a theme behind them, or that are a part of a series.
And so, here is my resolution: create a complete series of planets and universes with different details and textures and colors - that would fit different themes (like Irish theme), all year round. Here are a few examples of how far I've gotten - so far ! And many many many more to come... ! Looking forward to inter-galactic travel across different colorful worlds :)
