Climbing the long ladder to success - I finally made it to 50 approved uploads. There are times when I am completely stumped by the refusal emails... obviously I still don't "get it". But one must soldier on. This is the 50th image. I do love the colors. Oh - and I did double my sales. Now that Earnings Balance is up to $1.20! :)

Your 50th image is very good, great background, I like the tiny prisms of color on the water. Gotta love rainbows, wherever you see them. Here's to your next 50!!! Cheers! - posted by

I feel like I'm climbing Dune 45... an immense and impressive dune in Nambia's awesome Sossusvlei park. (If you haven't been there, please schedule some time and money and go! The Namibian Desert is one of the most amazing places in the world. I really need to get some of my prints and/or negatives scanned from my two trips there. For now, this shot illustrates the dunes well.) Forward progress in acceptance and uploads is slow, slow, slow. But way up ahead I can see Accepted Upload Number 100. I'm almost there! :)

Of the African countries I have lived in and/or visited, Namibia is the safest, and possibly the most beautiful.
The sand really is this color, at least in this area. There are places where it is redder, or pinker, or the more normal yellow or brown. - posted by

Lately I've gotten hooked on making collections (it's all Charles' fault!). I was surprised to find that there was no definitive collection of Texas photos, so I created The Great State of Texas collection a few weeks ago. Since I have lived in several parts of Texas over the last 18 years, I have some idea of the amazing scope of the state. Another favorite place of mine is Namibia. Formerly known as Southwest Africa, the country is a wonderland of desert, wildlife, mineral riches, and warm friendly people. So I have created Namibia - Jewel of Southern Africa. Both collections ... [ Read more... ]

Thanks Charles... I had fun doing all the collections. There is some spectacular photography on this site!
Things are going well. I have managed to be accepted as a photographer exclusive to Dreamstime. Have sold a couple more pictures, and am moving towards having 100 photos up on this site.
I see you had a wonderful trip to Joshua Tree National Park. One of these days I need to go see it. My brother loves the place. - posted by

Although widely known as a Spring Break destination, South Padre Island is a great little beach resort any time. We go as often as possible. The island forms a barrier between the Gulf of Mexico and the Laguna Madre, a wide flat bay. The island is amazingly long, and protects much of southern Texas from the direct effects of the ocean waves. The beach itself, of course, is amazing. I never get tired of walking on it. The sand is very fine, soft, and a light beige/tan color. In the past, there has been trouble with tarballs on the beach from the many oilrigs in the Gulf, but this has not happened in quite a few years. The sunrises are amazing, the moonrises too! Because the beach faces east,... [ Read more... ]

Houston, US
I've been taking photographs since I was in my early teens, and I embraced the digital format in 2003, almost 40 years later. Now, I'm venturing into selling my work, and my entries on Dreamstime are my first effort. Please feel free to provide comments and criticism - I am always learning! I maintain a Flickr photostream as well as my blog site above. My user name on Flickr is AmyEmilia (surprise, eh!)
