Nice surprise today     posted on 1st of may, 2008

I found two of my pics were Editors' Choice today :) What a nice surprise!

Blue gate on beach was shot while at the beach. I had to apply many levels adjustments and some dodging and burning to make the sky look dramatic and at the same time have the gate not sink in total shade. Had I had a flash at that time I would have probably filled in the shadows easily.

Neoclassical building interior was shot many years ago in Messina with my newly bought Nikon d70. This building interior looked really fascinating to me. I really liked the yellow light coming through the glass ceiling. I wasn't satisfied ...

Photojay: you are right! Wish I had my flash at the time I took that photo... Thanks a lot for the comment :) - posted by Sil63 on July 20, 2008
both great images! A flash for that gate definitely would have saved you all that PS work, but I have been in the same situation, so I completely understand what you went throught to get that image looking like it does. Great job. I hope they sell like hotcakes! - posted by Photojay on July 19, 2008

Black or white background?     posted on 14th of may, 2008

I was wondering if photos with black backgrounds sell as much as white ones... Do buyers buy them? Do you shoot also isolated on black objects? I'd really like to hear your experiences on this.

As for the images you see here: they are two attempts of mine to produce images with a black background. I happen to particularly like the one with he birthday cake, don't ask me why :). The other one was totally improvised and I think you can tell that! :).

Isolated on whate sell much better, unles there is an obvious reason to isolate on black (like you are shooting something white), I would use white to isolate. They are the old standby. I have been leaning more towards situational images, so I have retired my white background for a while. - posted by Photojay on July 19, 2008
Thanks everybody or your comments :) I think I will stick to white and occasionally shot a few black background photos. As Howard said, it depends on what contrasts best. Happy shooting! :) - posted by Sil63 on June 13, 2008
