Hello Again     posted on 1st of july, 2008

About a year ago I was very discouraged with Dreamstime. I had uploaded tons of photos but many of them were rejected. So I decided to take a little break. I was kinda forced to do this because life was getting busier and busier as my family and I packed for our year-long mission trip to Korea. Once in Korea, things didn't slow down so I didn't end up doing much on Dreamstime. After about a year, we headed on back to Florida, where, after unpacking and settling in, I was able to find some time last week to work on micro stock. With almost two years worth of photos to upload, I've been kept busy. Thankfully (and surprisingly for me), most of the pictures I've submitted have been accepted.

So, for the story of my life these two years, spent all over the world...

The story begins in Florida where I lived with my family (I'm a senior in highschool). Normally on the weekends we would go wakeboarding

And occasionally I would work for my dad's landscaping company:

Then, before we left for Korea my parents decided to take a vacation out west.

So we visited some friends and their cornfields in Iowa and Nebraska:

We visited the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone:

After that, we headed off to Banff National Park in Canada where we spent time rock climbing:

(my brother)

Even my little sisters decided to climb:

From there, we drove home for the last few weeks before heading for Korea. So we said goodbye to the lakes one last time:

In Korea, my family worked on teaching Korean families how to homeschool and disciple their kids:

We all enjoyed experiencing a different culture. From their food:

To their traditional architecture:

To their dancing and costumes:

I also really enjoyed helping to clean the oil that spilled last winter off the coast of South Korea:

After we accomplished what we went there for, we headed on home. Now we are pretty much settled in and we've gone boating a few times:

So that's the condensed story of my life these past two years.

It's good to be back...

I believe, with Francis Schaeffer, that there are "Four Standards of Judgement" that must be applied to every work of art: Excellence (well done technically); Validity (the artist is true to himself and not fooling the viewer); Content (the artwork genuinely reflects the worldview of the artist); and Integration (a strong correlation between style and content).

If you use one of my pictures, I would really appreciate it if you would let me know where it is because I would love to see my work in use. Thanks!
