For all those reading this blog, I will give a little background as to who I am. I am a soldier by trade. I spent 15 months in Iraq, and captured many great photos while I was there. The problem is that I did not think about getting model releases for the shots that I took. Almost all of my shots are of people, both locals as well as soldiers. The few that don't have identifiable faces are posted on this site. The shot below seems to be a favorite of quite a few people. I knew it was a cool shot, but never would have imagined that I would elicit such a positive feedback. Now that I am back in the States, I am having trouble finding topics that haven't been covered a million times. I get an idea, type in a seach for it and find 200 pages of images nearly just like my idea. In the war zone, there were so many unique situations that I didn't even have to imagine the shots, they just happened. My biggest hurdle to stock photography (which I love and think is a fantastic outlet for artists) is finding that same uniqueness where I live. I love nature and all that it has to offer, but everyone with a camera has taken at least a million shots of each thing I have encountered regionally. I have decided that I am just going to watch the world with the same eyes that I used in a war zone with the hopes of finding that same uniqueness in my mundane surroundings. As with others that have posted blogs, I am searching for that image that you didn't realize was going to be the "great one" until it starts getting sales.
