Courage     posted on 7th of august, 2008

Courage:
I have a lot of soldiers that I am responsible for, so I hear and see a lot of human strengths and shortcomings. One thing that I have noticed is their capacity to get back up no matter how many times they may fall. What relevance does this have to you? Courage is something that I think defines and separates the strong from the weak.

Courage is something that I know in my heart is something we are all born with. It is something that dwells within all of us. How we deal with it develops as we grow.

Our parents, surroundings, and all the we see and experience shapes how we use courage. Some see challenge, and they turn away, while others drive head on into it. Facing challenge and overcoming fear is something we all do every day whether we realize it or not.

It is what causes a person to run into a burning building to save someone else. It is ones unwillingness to allow a horrible disease or events stop them from fighting for each day. It is also watching your child walk toward their first day of school.

It is asking the one you love to marry you, and it is answering that question with a yes. Not every act of courage is monumental. The small acts encompass more of your lives than the grand ones. By our willingness to push to achieve, to be the best, to make ourselves, our loved ones, strangers, and perhaps even the world better we demonstrate tremendous courage.

There is only one thing that stands in our way. Fear. As long as we do not allow fear to stop us, there is nothing we can’t achieve. I bring this up and write about it here because it takes a lot of courage to put your heart and soul into capturing the beauty that is all around us and putting it out for all to see and criticize. To allow your peers, and those whom you wish to market to break down every detail of your work for better or for worse, takes nerves.

You are courageous by facing each day knowing that you will be turned down, yet you press forward. This demonstrates a basic human tenet that no other species exhibits. Courage will make you strong. Use that strength to enrich and empower your lives.

I see courage every time I see a person struggling with disability - how hard it must be to just leave the house, much less get to work. Sometimes the most courageous thing a person can do is to get up in the morning! - posted by Amyemilia on August 27, 2008
