Hello.
Time to celebrate for me. I am a man of few words, especially in a not exciting period on a personal level (economic crisis, not a lot of work, bla bla bla), so I’d like to share with you some achievements in these 5 years.
My first sale: 0.60$ 11/22/2007
My best seller: 320 sales, 931$ (online since 07/25/2011)
My best series, Robico Icons Series: 30 illustrations, 827 sales in total
My favourite subject: kids
That's all. Thank you. DT, admins, fellow travellers.
Best, Rob :-)

Yesterday I celebrated my 5000th sale!!
When I joined here in september 2007 I had not a photos archive to upload and I didn’t know anything about vectorial graphic. I started from scratch. I learned day by day here and by myself.
So, the little “moral” of the story is: everyone can pursue his dream, just believe.
I’d like to thank DT team and buyers, but also all the contributors.
If you want, you can find me on Facebook.
See you soon, Rob.

Christmas is approaching. For this holiday I realized many illustrations, but today I want to show you my personal interpretation of an Advent Calendar.
When I was a little child I liked it very very much, so I hope that someone else will feel those same feelings, day after day, from the first of December till the Eve.
Merry Christmas!!
Bye, Rob.

>Bussana Vecchia (Old Bussana) is a small ghost town in Liguria (Italy), not so far from the Italian-French border. It was built (IX sec.) on the top of a hill to be easily defended by Saracens. Like many other villages in the area it experienced periods of ups and downs, without ever becoming famous for a particular reason.
The reason why today is known is linked to the tremendous earthquake occured on February 23, 1887: at 6:21 AM a twenty second earth tremor caused destruction and deaths (at least 2000 people).
As a consequence of this tragedy, local authorities decided to rebuild the village, called Bussana Nuova (New Bussana), in a new site, a couple of kilometers downstream.
After the WW2, immigrants and displaced persons coming from Southern Italy started illegally settling the Old town. Despite... [ Read more... ]

Sometimes I happen to read posts on the Message Boards talking about subscriptions and the disappointment of seeing your own image sold at only 0.30$ or 0.36$. I always consider every sale with satisfaction, like a personal success – my picture was chosen among 3.000.000 of images online! From this point of view it doesn’t matter if it’s a “normal” sale or a subscription.
I sold many images via subscription and I want to point out the usefulness of these sales with an example.
This illustration is online from 23rd of November 2007. It became level 2 the 14th of April 2008 thanks to subscriptions too. From then I sold it 7 times:
16th of April 1.20$
17th of April 1.20$
23rd of April 3.00$
25th of April 1.80$
29th of April 1.80$
6th of May 0.36$
20th... [ Read more... ]

Subscriptions are definitely a good thing. I know there's about a 3 fold difference between a $1 sale and a $0.30 sale, but at these amounts it doesn't really matter. In fact, if you allow subscriptions you make create more chance for sales, thus make more money -> isn't that what a business is about?
|
 |
Thanks Wayne, Gokhan and Woo Bing for your comments. I always consider subscription sales like a bonus, so if I sell a level 5 (eps) for 0.42, well... I'm 0.42$ richer. ;-)
|
 |
If your image is assignment file which is the maximum level 5. Then, what is your point of view if that image has many subscriptions sales?

Hi everybody!
Here I am with the second part of the blog dedicated to the freeware and open source software called Inkscape. It’s very easy to use, but if you know some simple tricks, you’ll be able to draw with it in a faster way.
In the first part of my little tutorial ( http://blog.dreamstime.com/2007/12/05/inkscape-keys_art25005 ) I’ve shown you keyboards about tools (selector, node, zoom, geometrical forms, pen & pencil, gradient, text) and dialogs (very important to change the main characteristics of the objects).
Now I’d like to show you some keyboards about file, zoom and layers.
File:
Ctrl + N Create new document
Ctrl + O Open an SVG document
Ctrl + I Import bitmap or SVG
Ctrl + P Print document
Ctrl + S Save document
Shift + Ctrl... [ Read more... ]

I use inkscape to render all my illustrations. I find that it is very manageable and you can create great art with it.

Thanks Leda! Bye, Rob.

Hi guys!
Do you know Inkscape? It’s a freeware and open source software you can download from internet. It’s a very beautiful software that you can use to draw nice illustrations.
I’ve drawn all my illustrations with it and I think it’s a very useful instrument for vector designs.
I want to advise you to use some keyboards that can help you in your works. I often use them and I think they help you to draw more quickly and without lose your concentration.
Tools:
F1 (or s)Selector
F2 (or n)Node
F3 (or z)Zoom
F4 (or r)Rectangle
F5 (or e)Ellipse/Arc
F6 (or p)Freehand Pencil
Shift +F6 (or b)Bezier... [ Read more... ]
