Make Your Own Print Fabric     posted on 9th of january, 2009

Spoonflower is a new online fabric store located in Mebane, North Carolina. The web site has recently been featured in both the Raleigh News and Observer and the New York Tines. The most exciting thing about Spoonflower for me is that you design your own fabric for a flat rate of $18 per yard. It's printed on high quality cotton. While I'm not as in to textiles as I was a few years ago, I'd love to see a business like this one be successful. I haven't had the time to do my own designing or think up uses for this site, but the possibilities for tie-ins with microstock images should be infinite. It's a fascinating concept. I've always wanted to see my own images printed on fabric and hung in my home. I'll probably start there. Until now making a print of my own design was either too expensive or the results of my doing it myself were unsatisfactory. Quilters are going crazy designing their own prints. Since Dreamstime is by definition a creative community, I thought Spoonflower would interest many of its members.
