Maxtor and Seagate external Hard Drives SUCK     posted on 10th of march, 2009

Just want to everyone to know that I have owned 2 Maxtor external hard drives and 1 Seagate (which owns Maxtor..little did I know) and ALL 3 DRIVES have crashed. My advice is to NOT purchase Maxtor or Seagate...and especially if you are on a Macintosh.

Anyone else had issues with these external drives?

Well Seagate replaced the drive and it worked for about one month and then it died. This is 3 of the hard drives that they make that died. My Western Digitals HD's (I have 3) are perfect and have never given me grief.

Well, after doing a some online research, it turns out that I am not alone.....HUNDREDS and hundreds of people have issues with these Seagate and Maxtor hard drives. I would let it slide with one drive going down...BUT 3 external drives? Hmmm I've been using a Mac for over 20 years and it's NOT the user.

Well Im pro Maxtor & Seagate, Touch Wood or as we say Masha Allah. Im using two terabyte HD for my personal use, and One terabyte for office, and yeah I do work on both Mac and PC, So as kenneystudio said its not the hardware, something in your system.

I've had the a Seagate external harddrive for several years now. Same drive. No problems. Perhaps it is the software or the user, not the hardware.

Cant say that I have as yet, but was wary to reply to this, knowing murphy's law and all, I am touching wood as I type.
