There are two famous scenic spots of terrace in China, One is located in Yuanyang County, Yunnan Province , which is in the southwest area in China, and the other is located in Longsheng Ethnic Minorities Autonomous County in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region which is in the southern area of China. But actually there are terraces everywhere in China, especially in China southern hill area.
Longsheng terrace is a part of the Guilin natural scenic spots which is well-known for its spectacular landscape of mountains, rivers and lakes, forests and caverns formed by karst geomorphology and various cultures of the Zhuang, Yao ethnic minorities.
Longsheng terrace which is first built since the Yuan Dynasty has a history of more than six hundred years. All of the terraces locate at an altitude between 300 to 1100 meters, covers the mountains from the bottom to the top, with a maximum gradient of nearly 50 degrees.
Longsheng terrace is composed of Ping'an Zhuang ethnic terrace and Jinkeng Yao ethnic terrace. The Jinkeng terrace has a larger scale and is favorite place for photography fans.
The best visiting time of lengsheng terrace includes the irrigation season in May, the Harvest season in October and winter when snowing( try your fortune ). generally speaking, you should consider to stay there for two to three days for your visit.
