The Concept Of Arabic Numbers

>This time I made a special photo not only to be nice and stock seller but also because I like the concept of what it means!

Yes the concept of the arabic numbers that were invented and passed to Europe and the whole world in the 10th century...Now our day by day use almost everywhere!

I assume many like me didn't have a clue about this concept which is... The first Arabic numbers were shaped upon the number of the angles that are less than 180º... Yes Arabs on that time where involved in many studies about geometry angles and invented algebra... (Not getting into history now)

So if you look to number 1 it has only one angle that is less than 180º.
Number 2 which looked like a Z has two angles... 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 has the same concept.

For some reason number 9 has only 8 angles!
Maybe I missed something or the illustration that I have in the sheets had a default, but I promise I will investigate about that later...

What about the ZERO!!!
Studies say that it was made like a dot "." (No Angles) and that dot made a revolution in decimal numbers...
Zero now is shaped like an O which I believe it has a Roman origin.

	Posted by Tan510jomast on August 06, 2009 Arabic is such a gorgeous language. When I visited Tunisia I had someone write my name in Arabic and I learn the basic writing. It's difficult to write but even with my chicken scratch, the flow of the arabic script looks so beautiful to look at. I kept it as my logo for a little while. My enchantment of Tunisia has been strengthen by the beautiful language , and it brings appreciation of the culture and ancient architecture of which there are lots of arabic writing involved , to a height of experience. I can only say that I am looking forward to return to Tunisia and also visit other arabic countries simply because of my love for that language. Essalam, and shukran Mani for re-lighting the flames for me.

	Posted by Mani33 on August 06, 2009 Finally I found some sources in wikipedia... mentioning it as a myth. (Also there are 3 sources about this theory in wikipedia). According to my old notes, many valuable books were thrown in the river eufrate when the zone of Bagdad was invaded by the viking in the 8th century. The story says that the water color went dark black of much ink!!! (Big Loss :( ) Creativei you might be right but I still believe that the zero that was a dot that was invented in india not the zero as an O... I will investigate my sources. Cheers ;)
