I have been working on an image for Health and Spirituality Magazine. The article is about the flow of the chakras, not the traditional map, so this image was not accepeted. (Argh). I'm glad this image happened anyway... now that I've taken a long break! Each one of these illustrations takes around 12 solid hours in front of the computer... I go a little mad::: In between the 2/3 hrs work sessions, I'm doing yoga, calligraphy practice, and housework to keep my own chakras flowing. And I want very much to get back to my Iyengar prints, and to practice the Tuvian throat singing I started lessons for. O O O E E E AHHHH. This I am doing to open my throat chakra. The singers I know here in Joshua Tree say the heart chakra and the throat chakra are intrinsically linked. One even gave me a meditation to sensitize me to this relationship. Also, the 5th chakra is the passage way from the heart to the mind. Obvious, I know, but have you ever really thought about the implications?
One of the best books I've read about the chakra system is by Anodea Judith "Eastern Body, Western Mind : Psychology and the Chakra System as a Path to the Self". I was blown away by her insights which made the chakra system real and not just some obscure hypothesis gone New Age. I should reread it.. it was a borrowed book. Caroline Myss's work is also very good "Anatomy of the Spirit".

Very nice image!
Yoga, Pilate's, both are great. I don't do them anymore :( should get back to it! But I swim a lot, hike, and cycle and feel so good afterwards. Yes...the muscles hurt sometimes, like today, but it's a good hurt! It all helps my back problems and if you can only stretch while listening to music or the tv that helps, also. Don't be scared Maen, all the parts you misplace when trying yoga can be fixed by a good chiropractor or whatever you have in your country! Put the beverages down and try something new!

Talking walks is also really great for restoring balance and energy! Don't burn your eyes and back out for this stuff!

Wonderful image! Good luck with it! Maen, I did yoga once, for the same reason - I always stay in front of computer and I needed something different. So I searched in google for yoga lessons for beginners. My husband couldn't stop laughing while watching me and the next day all my muscles hurt! You sould try it :)))
