I am not a professional photographer. Unfortunately Israel isn't very hospitable to those who wish to make a living out of photography (or perhaps I wasn't cut out of the same material that great tough photographers are made of...). So what can one do? how can you combine a practical career and the joy of photography?
At first look, it seems impossible, since photography demands time and attention. there is a vast investment in truly great photos.
In my previous post I spoke about simplicity.
One of the forms of simplicity is timing. I decided to try and find a photo opportunities in my daily life.
The photo above was shot on a work related trip. I left a little early from home to have a chance to shoot couple of panoramas for my series.

This shot was taken when I took my little daughter to the zoo.
using a simple zoon (Canon 75-300 f/4-5.6) and a clear window, generated a stock quality photo.

These shots were taken on an overcast day on a trip to Istanbul.
Nothing special, just a little attention to light and composition.

This shot was take when I joined my dad on a day trip.
With a little attention to details and readiness on your part, you can turn your everyday photos to a stock quality images.
It won't turn you into a millionaire, nor will it generate a large enough income to leave your other jobs, but if you're serious about photography and wish to balance between the obligations of your career, and your desire to shoot and frame,and even make pocket money on the side (how does ~300$ gift for your birthday every year?), this can be a good deal for you.
It definitely works for me.
