Why... Classic Kids Questions

Have you ever wondered, how many questions fits into the 5 year old's head?
Why don't all the fish die when lightning hits the sea?
Why is the sky blue?
Why is the grass green?
Why can't people leave other people alone?
Why are birds not electrocuted when they land on electricity wires?
Why is the Moon sometimes out in the day and sometimes at night?
Why do cats have whiskers?
Why is a banana curved?
Why do I need to wash my hands?
Why does my best friend have two dads?
Why do zebras have stripes?
Why can't fish live out of water?
Why don't sheep shrink when it rains? (this is my favorite! :))
Why don't spiders stick to their own webs?
Why do I like pink?
Why is water wet?
Why do donuts have holes in them?
Why do we wear clothes?
Why does a pizza get to the house faster than an ambulance?
Why do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries and then a diet coke?
Why are they called apartments when they're all stuck together?
Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?
Why do they call the airport the terminal, if flying is so safe?
Why is dyslexic such a hard word to spell?
Why do they call it a building when it's already built?
Why is there no warm ice cream?
Why can't I eat dirt?
Why can't I play with my food?
And it's not only whys...
Are fish ever thirsty? (really?)
Where does the rainbow begin? (umm...)
Can germs get sick? (why not?)
How do clams walk? (huh?)
Are you sleeping? (grrrr....)
Can my tongue fall out of my mouth? (right...)
Could you answer?
How they think out all those questions? And it's not only them. I'm sure my mom would tell, she recognizes many of those. I had lots of whys when I was younger. Some were answered, some still carry lots of question marks. Why don't sheep shrink when it rains, really? Or how do we know they haven't already?
Aren't kids just sweet? I love when they ask their questions. And to celebrate their curiosity I made an illustration to remember myself that there's never ever need to be ashamed about asking questions, cause there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.

LOL They are cute. :) A little while ago, when I was visited my parents, my mom reminded me about her notes, what she did when me and my brother, we were just started to talk and reason. I love very much that she wrote down all our "clever" discoveries and funny sayings. I think I should publish a book now. :))

What a precious blog, I just happened to stumble upon:)
So cute and recognisable!
May I add one from this morning from our 4 year old cutey?;
"mom, Was God baptised when he was a little baby?"....
I still owe him the answer LOL
Posted by Maigi on November 28, 2009
:)) Yeah, it should be one of these questions, what never should give you an answer "yes", but as I remember from my childhood, the answer was always "Yessss!"...

I like the one about "Are you sleeping?" I must have woken my mom up from a nap hundreds of times during my childhood with that question!

:) I love that Chinese proverb: "He who asks a question is a fool for five minutes; he who does not ask a question remains a fool forever". The thing I want to always carry with me form the beginning of my childhood, is an ability to always and unabashedly ask questions, and not to worry about how bright I might look at that moment. Kids are great example! Thank you for your good words, Kaththea!

Love these questions picture, Maigi!
Sometimes, when children ask questions that seem easy at first, they can really make us perplexed, and we have to stop and think for a moment to find the right answer. It may even make us look at the world from completely different point of view. And this is what I like most!)

:) So true. Thanks for your kind words, James!

This is a good one "when they tell you on the door, that their mom went out and she's not at home. And when you ask, when she will be back, they shout into the house: "Mom, when you will be back?" "
I totally agree with you that there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. Kids are really very spontaneous. Nice illustration !! Thanks !

The most embarrassing question when they ask when the visitor is going away? LOL
Or when they tell you on the door, that their mom went out and she's not at home. And when you ask, when she will be back, they shout into the house: "Mom, when you will be back?" ;)))

• Hey, Tangie, I've been missed you. :) So true those questions seem to keep coming and coming. But eventually they will stop, when we grow older. I'm just wondering, why is that? Even if we haven't get all the answers? At some point asking why, seams to be embarrassing. Why?
• Mani, thanks for the honored place in your collection! I'm happy! :)
• Dragos, there was a website with classic kids questions and good advice how to answer your child's "why" questions. One approach was to brainstorm for answers. With you kids, write down all possible answers all together, and then help your children to find their answers among or based on those brainstormed answers.
• LOL Ben, that's good. Keep him asking that! ;))
• Pardeep08, that was my second favorite, when I thought about it while I was awake. But I'm not sure, how cute I would find it when I'd hear it. ;)
• Hey Altaf! Good luck with preparations!! :) Too early for congrats, I guess? But best wishes!!

"Why do you keep taking so many pictures of me, Daddy?"
Posted by Mani33 on November 20, 2009
Oh yeah Tangie they are never convinced :))
The most embarrassing question when they ask when the visitor is going away? LOL
Posted by Tangie on November 20, 2009
Oh but the fun is that once you get to answer one of these questions, they will yet find another one and another one. Why do I need to wash my hands? Because you put your little hands everywhere and you might get them really dirty and then when you eat, you might get sick etc. And they go on: But why do you get sick? This never ends. Unless they get sleepy, hungry or bored eventually :).

Children's questions are never ending. I saw even a book with this questions. But they are our children and we must have a good response for every question.

WHY Susan can not see her avatar??? LOL...

Maigi this question of why did the chicken cross the road is so tricky!!!!
The KG teacher will say to get to the other side!
A physician would say maybe the road moved under the chicken feet!
People with Alzheimer would say I forgot why :P
A lawyer would say because it has the right to!!!
Religious would say it's the well of God to let it cross the road!

What would you say?! :P
Posted by Maigi on November 19, 2009
Hmm, sad. Then I don't have a clue.
Posted by Noonie on November 19, 2009
It's bigger than that. Maybe I'll change again now that Maen has seen it, anyway.
Posted by Maigi on November 19, 2009
Susan, your profile image should be at least 180x220 pixels. Then it appears on your profile page. And to see new icons it's necessary to refresh browser (F5) or reload the page (depends on browser).
Posted by Noonie on November 19, 2009
Just thought I'd spruce up my profile page. Also, because Maen never got to see it :)) I broke something again, even with the head protection on!
:(( I didn't even know it was there until Dessie told me, because I couldn't see it. I can now but still not on the profile page.

The aliens must be trying to tell me something.............

I have the classical one! Why did the chicken cross the road? :))
Hey, on this site it's an easy one: to pose with chicks, of course! :))

I have the classical one! Why did the chicken cross the road? :))
Posted by Maigi on November 19, 2009
Nope, Susan. But now I got some more whys. Why are you still wearing that hat? And why it don't show up on your profile page? ;)
Posted by Noonie on November 19, 2009
Who says you can't eat dirt? Oh, sorry, this isn't a who says game is it......

And you're so smart now because you had so many questions then :))
