The North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA) has announced that June 15 is the first observation of National Nature Photography Day. Special date first appeared in the 2006 edition of McGraw-Hill's reference work Chases's Calendar of Events.
Activities NANPA encourages everyone to do on June 15 include:
- Getting your camera and visit a park - at lunchtime if you can - Learning about and photographing a species of plant or animal that is native to your region. - Teaching a child how to take a picture of flowers or trees in the backyard. - Reading about the life of a famous nature photographer, such as Ansel Adams, Philip Hyde or Roger Tory Peterson.
"We're pleased to have an official day. Nature Photography Day is intended to promote the art and science of nature photography. We look to the esthetic elements but practical ones as well," said Albert Sieg, President of NANPA. The organization, which was founded in 1994, was formed to promote nature photography as an art form, and also to set professional and ethical standards for nature photographers. NANPA also runs regional events throughout the US.
You can learn more about NANPA at www.nanpa.org.
P.S: until 6th of July, you can take part of the 2010 National Wildlife Photo Contest.

Hmmm...to tell the truth, I didn't think about it yet, I don't think so my photos are good enough for a world-wide competition...but maybe I'll give a chance to them. But not with excclusive photo, I'm afraid you can't participate a photo that already on a stock site.

Aginger confidential info
>I've started photographing a few years ago with a compact cam. I liked it but I interested more for it, so I changed to a bridge cam to learn basic settings and rudiments. In 2008 november I decided to buy a DSLR cam, and I chose a Pentax k10d. Now I'm ready to learn to use and enjoy it.
I rarely use hard Photoshop effects, I'd better see the real world in my photos. My main interests are travelling and towns - and nature, of course. I think I'm good at nightscenes - however, I don't like to take photos about people, so my pics sometimes seems a little static - mainly for Stock photographing, but I don't give up. :)
Lots of my photos are based on Raw files so if you need it just contact me by adding a comment on the image and I will upload it.
