The Two Toads     posted on 27th of july, 2010

This is a copy of a post I recently added to my blog at wordpress. Two of the toad photos were just accepted at DT and I wanted to share.

Have a great day!

I have had some visitors in my yard lately. They hide away when the sun is out and the temperatures soar, but when it cools and we get a little rain they come out to play.

They are the cutest little toads; barely 2 inches long. They don’t like to pose for photos but I managed to get one or two OK shots.

These little visitors reminded me of a story from an old children’s book. I have no idea who wrote it but I’ve done my best to re-tell it. The moral of the story is… your words and your actions have power. Use that power for good.

The Two Toads

A group of toads were traveling through the woods, when two of them fell into a deep pit. When the others saw how deep the pit was, they told the two toads that they were as good as dead.

The two ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all their might. The other toads kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the toads took heed to what the others were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.

However the other toad was hard of hearing, he thought the actions of the others were that of encouragement. The frightened toad continued to jump as hard as he could and finally made it out of the deep pit and was able to complete the journey through the woods.

Good ending Gavril!

Thanks Carolyne, Maen, Sarah, and Yuritz.

Maybe the next time they come back I'll try to get one indoors for a "portrait".

And now the hard of hearing toad is the president of a big multinational corporation and very successful. He has a huge house, a beautiful wife and smart children.

Sorry I could not resist.
Cheers
