Always amazing what sells

I'm always amazed at what images sell.
This week I made two sales, one of an image I really like:
and one of an image from a set that I had a good debate with editorial staff on:
Indeed my images from Western Samoa have done really well, which is pleasing as several were initially rejected based on "too many similar things in the database" i.e. island scenes, even though as I succesfully argued, there were at the time very few images from Western Samoa and I personally always like authenticism with images.
So disappointing to see an image of a gorilla keyworded with monkey, or an image from Suriname (in South America) keyworded as from Africa. But to whomever bought the first image, well done, I like your taste, and to whomever bought the second image, well done as it supports my point that we should never second guess the market.

You're right Veyron85 and this was really why I made this blog. I don't think we should second guess buyers. I have held a number photography exhibitions and the only constant is that different people like photos for different reasons. One of the other photos that really intrigued me was the sale of the photo of an eland, not because of the sale but that someone specifically searched for an image with the keyword eland. Elands

Aaaah wrong keywording ! By biggest eyesore, as i see to many animals labelled as: lizard in desert, alligator instead of crocodile (or viceversa) and everything that is big is labelled as an iguana. Not to mention latin names to go wirh the pic.
Anyway good post, and keep up the good work !

I particularly like black and white photography in certain instances as it captures the mood and texture of the place or person. At other times colour is necessary to show the vibrancy, life and energy. Please have a look at my website if you would like to see more images.
