a first milestone reached

posted on 24th of september, 2010

Dear Dreamstime members,

I would like to share a really good moment with you:

Today I reached my first personal milestone here at Dreamstime. With my sale number 164 I finally crossed the barrier of the minimum payout and was able to request payment the first time here at Dreamstime. This is really exciting to see that one day the effort pays back !

This was THE sale today:

Some statistics (which might especially be interesting for new members) about the way to the first payout:

I am a member here on DT since April last year. But that it did last that long to my first payout is my own fault - not having been very choosy with the files I uploadad in the beginning made my acceptance ratio drop to some 2 % - you can imagine how I had to struggle to bring that up again and being able to upload significant amounts of files. Actually I am short below 70 % acceptance ratio and am still fighting my "sins" of the beginning.

This was my first approved file here on DT:

Meanwhile I have 472 files online, 98 files have at least one sale and two made it to level 2:

Some of you might think whether it´s worth the effort needing more than one year to get the first bucks - but, YES, it´s worth it and as I stated, it was MY fault that it needed that long. To be honest - I started to work really on my portfolio in March this year (when I had my isolated series and the massage series online) and the sales started to increase right afterwards.

So don´t give up, newbies, work hard on your portfolio, take rejection reasons for serious and improve that already in the next shooting - and together with good concepts and picture quality the success will be yours. Don´t get it wrong - I of course see that I am still a sort of beginner here - just wanted to share my enthusiasm ! :-)

Here some of my favorites which unfortunately never made it to be sold:

I am looking forward to keep on working with Dreamstime - it´s really fun and helped me to improve my skills very much (whith taking the rejection reasons for serious and working on improvements).

cheers
and a nice evening to all of you !

About me

I am working hard on making my portfolio grow as fast as possible - but with limited success due to a notorious lack of time ... :-) All files are shot in RAW, developed, saved as TIF and there professionally retouched and finally saved once as JPG to maintain highest quality possible. Thank you for visiting my profile - I hope you´ll find some pictures you like. Any hint for what you will use the pictures would be much appreciated. cheers Arnd
