Google results!

posted on 4th of july, 2010

Hi everyone!

Tonight while I'm searching google.pt to see the rank of the websites of my clients (which I do often), I had the idea of searching google.com with some of my images with out using the keywords Dreamstime or Mani33 & I was surprised to have one image of mine (image & link) on the first page linked to DT!

It's so good to see that even general keywords search like these "German Euro Coin" can make my photo on the top of the related subjects! & who knows maybe a sale!

DT is almost on the top of every search about photography, but with out mentioning photos, microstocks or photographer name, that is awesome! Just to know how many sites could be officially talking about a coin can make it like a mission impossible to rank your photo on the first...

Watermark on FB

posted on 5th of july, 2010

Hello everyone!

Just a small reminder for the photographers that use social networks like facebook to promote their work

PLEASE USE WATERMARK OVER YOUR IMAGES! Even the web sized ones!

You won't like to see your images used on the web with out knowing if it was stolen or downloaded, specially for non exclusive photographers!
Secure your potential sales even the small ones!

Wish you great sales! Cheers :)

Thank you guys for sharing this... YES it is important to read any license agreement before you share anything! Have a nice day all.

Facebook did try and claim rights over photos that users uploaded through their terms and conditions, but because an issue was raised about this, they changed their terms.

Whenever someone uploads content onto a site it is best to read through the terms and conditions first because rights can be claimed to the uploaded content, whether or not you are using their name, etc. and if you don't read the terms - without your knowledge!

Same applies for photography competitions as another blog pointed out.

unless it was changed from the time that i investigated the information, i read it directly from the agreement about a couple of months ago.

When it's good it's good for all!

posted on 12th of july, 2010

Hi everybody,

Some times ago I had downloaded this image and I used it on a site of my creation, it was a web usage image, so my download was the extra-small size!

My client definitely liked my services & he asked me to prepare a decoration for his van in vinyl... Something I'm doing recently beside the webdesign, prints & decoration...
Well it wasn't difficult to look at the site & adapt some parts on a big van! elements that the client liked a lot!

For the first time I download the same image twice for two reasons, the license & the resolution!

Also it will be the first time that the logo I created & the images I used will be traveling as a print to many countries on this commercial van!

I hope it's good news also for the photographer!...

Coloured version is more realistic, as your lights and shadows are just perfect in that images! But for sure black and white version can also be useful.

Thia is really good work! I like the color ones visually, but can see someone needing the black and white for certain purposes.

Pay attention about DETAILS!

posted on 19th of july, 2010

I know that the world of photography is full of imagination & unreal things (wow yes I do!), this is one of the greatest things about it, no limits & none stop creativity! But when it comes to our daily life & professional work, we always love to find the photo that really represents the subject that we would like to cover! If we can mix the unreal with the real it would be nice to open a new imagination window for the target (client)! In some professions, a photo that represents the reality is a must, because of the laws & the rules that made to organize the companies & guarantee some safety measures!

So when you take a photo & you plan to sell it for these professions please pay attention to some details that might get the buyer choose another image & leave your image for a reason...
