I recently reached 50 uploads and I participate to the assignment for the first time last month. Before I never took pictures thinking about a concept, even if I read that this is very important in microstock. Anyway this is a hobby for me and I just took pictures during my travels. The fact that now I had to think of a concept before taking pictures was an interesting challenge for me. The subject was help. I thought: do I help? As a matter of fact I and my wife volunteer at a dog shelter. So I decided to take some pictures of some of the cute puppies we take care of.
I had to overcome many technical difficulties: I don't usually take pictures of animals, I don't have a studio, so no experience at all in the field. Anyway with a little patience and my improved skills at photoshop I came out with some decent images.
These images were taken at the shelter and the puppies are on a chair with a white fabric on.
Even if not accepted for the assignment these pictures were accepted as regular RF images.
Checking out the results of the assignment I found out that this image won the 2nd prize.
I was very happy. Although this image has probably a better composition and quality than mine, the concept is similar, so it means that my idea wasn't so bad. This gave me even more enthusiasm to try again next time and improve even more. Congrats to Rose-marie Henriksson by the way.
Now I am trying try to focus more on concepts and I have already uploaded new pictures based on concepts. My wife is the model.
Also these images are not taken in a studio. This concept thing gave me the opportunity to upload some picture even when I am not traveling and made me improve as a photographer.
