Photographers' Lament (for the over 50's!)

Grow old gracefully they say,
I wouldn’t have it any other way.
But when I struggle from my chair,
I find that grace just isn’t there.
And looking in the mirror I see
My Grandma looking back at me.
And when I kneel to catch that view
Of a primrose dressed in morning dew.
I have to wait for a helping hand
To help me stagger and finally stand.
When the kids say ‘Gran, oh do be quick!’
I use my tripod as a walking stick.
My camera bag weighs more each day
And the ground gets further and further away.
When young I travelled miles to find
That tropical view to blow your mind.
Now I find I can’t stand the heat,
and my body’s gone south without moving my feet.
I quietly wait in my garden hide,
With flask of coffee and birdwatchers’ guide.
My zoom lens is focused, white balance is set,
A level five I aim to get.
But I miss the shot, I want to weep
Because somehow, it seems I fell asleep.
I know it’s possible, I’ll sell
One day, that seductive, illusive, SR-EL
Meanwhile I’ll fight this artist’s block And try to conquer the needs of stock.
At least I would if I could, just recall
Where I left my camera, lenses, bag and all!
The image isn't me by the way, I just think it's a great shot!

Nice one Sandra. I think you are a poet - then again, I think you know it. Im in the category of old age too - and I suspect older than you! Liked this blog and will read again - but cant for the life of me remember when... Confused? you soon will be as I am too - probably twice as much as half of you. Must go now rest my head - hope we both get a download (nuff said)
Thank you Amlyd...a great reply!
