Crazy Submission Limits

This crazy upload limit of 18 images a week is really starting to annoy me! (BIG understatement!)
I can understand that DT is annoyed that some photographers are submitting vast numbers of similars and that this is clogging up the editing process, BUT why do we all have to suffer??
It would make far more sense if the editors just flagged the photographers responsible for submitting all the similars, reject their images AND JUST LIMIT THEM !!
Why do we all have to be penalized ?
I'm a professional with over 25 years experience of shooting 'stock'. I have contracts with many of the big name mainstream stock agencies. I earn my entire 6 figure income from shooting stock and this daft limit is costing me money.
At the moment I have over 1800 images waiting to be submitted to DT, but at the rate of just 18 per week it will take me best part of 2 years to submit them, without any new material I may also want to upload.
A quick look at my portfolio will show that I have a very diverse collection with very few similar images.
PLEASE DT, DROP THIS CRAZY SUBMISSION LIMIT
JUST PENALIZE THE CULPRITS, NOT ME !!
Below are a few of my images......the word VARIETY comes to mind.......

I had this reply for the second picture of the same church "Too many photos/illustrations on the same subject or from the same series." , but I can see portfolio with tens and tens pictures of the same girl doing gym or of the same girl dressed in Santa Klaus ... and not many DLs ! Even for an old church, buyers might have (a little) choice, I think.

Hi Ponytail - I have been stuck on a 79% acceptance ratio since I joined DT. It just will not go over the magic 80%. no matter what I do. Most of my rejects are for release issues, not quality issues. I'm told 30 images submitted without a single reject should get me over the 80% mark. We shall see. And then, oh joy, I can upload 27 a week !!

I entirely sympathize with anyone who has a style that produces a large number of unique images, and suddenly has to deal with this. From your website, it appears that you really focus on DT for RF, so it is a shame to make that harder for you. Travel photography seems like a particular niche that suffers from this.
Another way to look at it, though, is that over half of your portfolio has never sold. DT has to review those, store them, and try to sell them. You upload about 110 a month average. If you can be a bit more selective and get rid of those extras that don't sell (here) you'll get your AR up to 80%, and have an upload limit that lets you do 112 images a month (assuming 80% are accepted)... I'm confident that you will do better in searches and RPD if you have fewer images that sell better as well. Seriously frustrating to be sitting at 79%, though!

I can't believe you have the same upload limit as I do! I thought it was just me because I am a peon. I think any agency should want someone like you to upload thousands at a time.

Ahd I agree! Its madness, better take example from ******** and ******** - where there are no limits to download photo. This is not progress, but complete regression....

Thanks Heywoody, I will give that a go.
My individual submission ratio (as on the Statistics page) is often around 90%, but still I always stay at 79% overall.
Less than 30 submissions without a reject will do it ...

The limit of 53 images (for at least 80% acceptance ratio) is only valid for exclusive photographers.
Steve, seriously, you have some excellent shots, try to be more selective when uploading, you can pass that 80% mark. Then, your limit would be 35 per week (150 per month), wich is really not that bad if you submit on a regular basis.

I don't know. But I do know that for the past six weeks after I have uploaded 18 images the system stops me uploading any more, saying I am only allowed to upload 18 per week. Even if I was deemed able to upload 27 pw it's still a joke! I used to find the 100+ limit a pain, but I could live with that.

According to the DT submission rule:
Users with an approval percentage of between 50-80% can upload half (1/2) of the maximum amount of images per week.
So, you at least can submit 27 images each week. Am I wrong?

Hi Luckydoor
My acceptance ratio is 79%, has been since I joined. I have never managed to get it over the 80% mark that I think gives the higher limit.
The 79% ratio means I can only upload 18 per week.
Seems like the perfect opportunity to address this. Just submit the very best 18 for 2 weeks and your AR will go over 80% - you obviously have the volume and quality to do this.

I think the max upload is 53 each week, I could not believe that your Acceptance Ratio is so low for a professional Stock shot as you said, but your images are really good and I like them. Good Luck!

I wrote and talked about this problem a week ago or so;being exclusive is even more penalizing,I know that I'm not a professional photographer, but it's still a problem for me like for you that're living with these incomes! Don't know if they'll raise again the limit, but I surely agree on the fact that there are some responsibles and they should go find them first and limit those kind of uploads!

I concur 100% with what Steve Allen has written in his blog. That these absurd upload limits have now been in place for nearly six weeks since 18 March 2011 is patently unfair to all full-time professional photographers. It is a real slap in the face and grossly unfair to say nothing of the fact that it is depriving us of potential sales and, for that matter, equally deprives DT the chance to obtain new, quality images from responsible people who know what kind of images to submit. Come on, DT, raise the upload limit for us, enough of these restrictions already. As Mr. Allen suggests, flag those who submit improper images and restrict them. Give the rest of us a break, PLEASE!
