There are several great websites to help you plot a route.
byways.org lists registered "trails" or routes via an interactive map. Detailed maps, descriptions and places to stop for food and shopping are listed.
roadsideamerica.com shows interesting things to stop and see along the route. Again, great interactive map to help you find what you're looking for.
nps.gov is a great resource for National Parks across the states - sooooo many of them are can't miss destinations.
My parents travel with a dog frequently and they like to stay in La Quinta hotels specifically for their pet friendly policies. Their web site offers good search facilities along travel routes.
Have a safe trip and we'll look forward to your awesome pics and stories. K-

Hello,
There are probably hundreds of places to stop along the way with a trip like that, but if you're going to travel along I-10, then north along i_25 to the Denver area, I would recommend a stop of at least a couple of days at Rocky Mountain National Park. It's located northwest of Denver near a little tourist town called Estes Park, and well worth the visit. This is not the best time of year to visit because the high country might not be accessible yet due to snow, and the Elk are probably still kind of scruffy with their winter coats, but you can certainly get the idea and probably see that it's worth a second trip back out later in the year.
If you happen to be traveling along I-70 out of Denver, be sure to make a side trip down to Moab, Utah, to see Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, as well as Dead Horse State park. These places can give you a real feel for the southwest and a vision for what "red rocks" are all about. Fascinating places!
If you happen to be over near...(More)
