Flowers for Mothers' Day

Here is the flower for all mothers on DT and Happy Mothers' Day, though I wish it's my own photo,

I tried to upload a dozen of flower photos during the past week, unfortunately none was accepted, which lowers my AR.

Currently I only have Canon EOS REBEL T1i with standard 18-55 kit. Certainly it's probably not a good lens for flowers, but is there any possibility to shoot some high quality flower photos with this lens, if lighting condition is good? or I should give up for shooting flowers with such lens.

	Posted by Rosedarc on May 08, 2011 It's a very covered subject, lots of great pictures out there already, so it's very hard to get approved. I try regularly but very sparsely in order not to affect my AR. I find that most of my flower shots are not good enough to even submit, and when I submit it's not often they get accepted... Shallow DOF is often the problem and yet I see plenty of other photos with shallow DOF around. I guess I still have to work on it and be even more selective. Good luck!

	Posted by BCritchley on May 08, 2011 It can produce acceptable results for stock. Flower shots are very over done in my thinking, like tomatoes isolated on white. To get your flower shots accepted they have to be done very well and or really stand out as something special.
