One question: how many picture before to have "enough" sales?

posted on 17th of july, 2011

Yes, I ask often to me this question! I'm here since 2 years and I've some sales, not enough for me, but it's never enough, no?! ;-)

And I'm also in more than 10 other microstocks websites with between 340 to 550 pictures, it's depend of the site.

With the totality, I've some sales each month, but how many pictures does it hopes to do his full time job?

1000, 2500, 5000, more than 10000???

What's your experience and/or your opinion on that?

Thanks for your answers!

Since some days, I look many portefolios and when I see portefolios of best sellers, I think that my principal weakness are really the lack of marketing images!

I think, this is THE MAJOR difference...

Well, lot of works ahead for me! ;-)

That's a interesting question. When I start in DT.I Think 500 image will make me happy and every day has some downloads.

Now,I have almost 600 picture. But sales stop these days.Last month I get 20 sales.I have 10 sales for this month now.

You can see I am so gloomy here. Now I begin to I think my picture is not fit for DT.

This is my case. But I also see some one else sales good here especially the illustrate picture.

It clearly depends a lot on your income goals. I'm pretty close to matching a minimum wage job these days, but it will be a long while before I could replace my professional job :)

In my case when I passed 300 images online I started to have sales everyday. Now Im selling around 120 images per month. But I guess it all depends on quality and having images on demand...

Wow! Very good results with less than 1000 pictures! Bravo!
And it's encouraging for me...

With my portefolio, I think I've one weakness (at least ;-) ): I don't have any people pictures...
But, it's hard for me because I don't like take people pictures...

I think sales depend on the quality of the pics, upload more and more high quality pics with different ideas.

Yes, sure! And I think that's better to do "marketing" oriented pictures than landscape pictures (even if it's very beautiful)...
But for you Picstudio, you've now more than 6600 pictures, it's a big portefolio, when does sales become interesting? After 1500, 2500, 5000???

It's just to have an idea of the amount of work I've left!... ;-)
