Getting Creative back

Some people have a natural talent, and some have to work hard to achieve results.
Not just in photography........
Example: When I was young, my 3 older sisters and I all had piano lessons. We played all that was taught to us, we played reasonably well, and that was as far as it went. My younger brother eventually took the same piano lessons, and he would come home and practice, "Not what he had learnt", but what he FELT. He would go off into his own little world & create his own style of music. Be it Piano or Guitar, which we all learnt to play, we loved music and performed in variety concerts and events around our town, but my younger brother was able to go beyond anything the rest of us could achieve, performing solo and in a various bands and duos around Australia over many years. Because he had a natural flair, an ear for music….one could say. A natural talent to pick up a tune, a rhythm, a beat, to feel what was deep inside.
So getting back to photography.......
Same thing, you have to feel it, to absorb it, to immerse yourself into whatever project you are creating. When I feel like I’ve become stagnant and uncreative I look for inspiration. Check out other photographers, find some inspiration, try something new, out of your comfort zone, be adventurous. Unlike the days of film, nowadays it’s so easy to hit the delete button if it doesn’t work out.
What have you got to lose?
Oh and most importantly…….have FUN!!!

Sorry Dave, you're right. I was thinking more of creativity rather than just stock. There is a big difference. Although I do believe it's good to vary one's experiences by trying different approaches, and hopefully that will help to enhance the stock photos we produce. That's the way I look at it anyway, not saying that it's the right way, just my opinion. Appreciate your comments .

I can't agree more with the last sentence - have fun! For those of us that don't have that "special gift", practice, practice and practice our crafts till it becomes second nature. Good luck to everyone in whatever you do :)

Some good points ! But I think there is a BIG difference between a good photograph and a good stock photograph that will sell :o)
