Unique & Useful

This photo is by far my top earner - to date, downloaded 19 times and has made up more than 1/6 of my total Dreamstime revenue.
Look at the photo - nothing special, right? Except it's unique - there are simply not many photos of Canada's Oil Sands on Dreamstime. So when someone wants one, they're going to have to come to me.
Other photos may be more beautiful, more well-composed, but they probably won't sell as much.
Food for thought. Keep your shots unique and useful and you will get more downloads. And more $$$.

You've hit it - unique AND useful. Some people focus too much on unique and forget about it being useful to buyers :)

I just lately had the same thoughts - sometimes you think, wow, love this shot, then you look how many of them are already on Dreamstime and you overthink if the shot is not again one of thousands --- so it might also be the specialities of where we live - which is unique for others but we don't see it as that anymore. Or we build up a unique situation - but that asks for creativity and I'm still at the very beginning of using that :)
