Time to capture lights in Thailand     posted on 17th of october, 2011

Loy Krathong festival or Yipeng is a full moon celebration in November. “Loy” means "to float" and a "Krathong" is traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk and leaf form as a bowl contains candle, joss stick and flowers. Thai people will make wishes before floating on the river.

Chiang Mai is a special place to do photography such as 1,000 holy fire balloons, fireworks, local Thai performance, monks, parade of beautiful traditional Thais culture and many beautiful Thai women in their traditional dress.

At Doitao lake, there is a event of 1,000 fire balloons to honor to the King of Thailand that has 84 years old and memorable to ancestors who were living under the lake of Doitao. That will be great shot.

Doitao lake was an area of villagers who have been living for thousands of year. In 1962 a Dam has built to develop agriculture and to produce Hydro electric power. Their villages was flooded over and became the lake. I am looking forward photograph this coming event.
