From a cotton reel to Muffins

In 117 Sales :D

It has been a jolly good weekend for kme here at dreamstime, I had been hovering close to my first payout since last week and what do you know the sales dried up, but this weekend I sold three and broke through that elusive 100 USD mark :D

I initially signed up in Jan 2010 but never made it through the submission process so I went away fairly quickly with my tail between my legs, I actually did a 365 project in an attempt to learn more about my new camera and on Jan 2nd 2011 I thought I would give it a spin again. I got accepted a couple of days later and got images on imagine my surprise when a couple of days later I sold a couple of images only to have them refunded a couple of days after that :( Then the waiting started the 4 weeks till my first sale seemed to last an eternity, but finally on the 2nd of Feb this cotton reel sold :D

I have given up trying to predict what will sell as some of my "best" images to my mind have not sold, but that just underlines the fact that aesthetically or technically the best image does not make the most commercially attractive image. I was shocked to wake up one day to find thta someone had purchased an image of a dea mole though ;)

So after 10 months of ups and downs I made it to 100 USD and it does feel rather good, it is only 100USD afterall yet the sense of acheivment is certainly tangible, and these muffins that I uploaded last week finally pushed me over the edge. I'm hoping to cut that 10 months down a little before the next payout and contiue to boost my now 406 image portfolio. I am certainly not the greatest with a camera and claim no natural talent, it is all about learning a bit of commitment and a bit of luck...

Thanks all and thanks Ewapix, I was actually out in the garden doing a couple of bits and pieces to get finished up for winter in just Jeans and a T-shirt a few days ago :)

The biting wind has not turned up yet which is generally our prelude to winter, it is actually worst than winter itself, going out on day where it is 10 below zero is a walk in the park compared to the autumn north winds.

Congratulations again! See, winter has come early this year - so far only in the USA, but I think it may be early in Europe too. But the weather forecast says that the bonfire night will be rainy - again! Ewapix

Good stuff! Interesting about the dead mole. I suppose an article on pest control, but usually they use live animal shots. Those final days before a payout are always the longest.
