Finding Inspiration

I’ve been with dreamstime for about a year and a half now, so I’m hardly at newbie in stock photography anymore (it’s hard to think of yourself as a newbie in anything once you’ve reached a Half a Century), but I have just recently started to look at photography as a serious endeavor

I think one of the appeals of photography is the low barrier to entry. Anyone can pick up a camera and start shooting. But just like the invention of the word processor did not turn everyone into award winning authors, the digital camera does not make us all photographers.

Fortunately I am finding a lot of resources available to learn

and I’m a big fan of trial and error as a powerful learning aid

Feel Your Boobies

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

My beautiful, beautiful young niece has been diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer at the age of 23. Fortunately the cancer was found early, and with proper treatment, her prognosis is excellent.

This has really driven home the importance of early detection for my family and myself.

Ladies, please, please do monthly self exams and have an annual mammogram.

Gentlemen, please remind the women in your life how much you care - encourage them to follow early detection guidelines.

Let's not lose another life to this horrible, yet treatable, disease.

In the Holiday Spirit

It’s that time of year again...

I love the Holidays if for no other reason than they gives me a guilt free excuse for imbibing in festive cocktails (of course, when you’ve reached Half a Century, you realize life is too short to not celebrate all of life’s moments …. Groundhogs Day anyone?) I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite seasonal cocktails.

Nothing is scarier to me on Halloween than the fear of running out of candy for the darling Trick-Or-Treaters.
Once that horror has passed, I’ve found the best way to soothe those frazzled nerves is a nice

Manhattan with a Halloween twist
2 oz rye whiskey
1/2 oz grand marnier
Pour the ingredients into a shaker with ice and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with...
