Annpurna Circuit Trek

Last month i.e. in October, i along with my friends went to trek Annapurna Circuit, one of the best trekking routes in the world. Although it was tiresome, it was worth it. The beautiful mountains, dreadly paths, sound of Marsyangdi river jut made our journey very memorable.Thorong La is the highest point on the Annapurna Circuit.It is located 5,416 metres (17,769 ft) above sea level in Damodar Himal, north of the Annapurna Himal,in Nepal.

Gai Jatra- The Cow Festival

Gai Jatra- The festival of cows is a festival celebrated by the Newar community of Kathmandu valley every year since the malla period. Every family who lost their member participate in this festival. They bring children or sometimes adult as well with resemblance of Radha Krishna or give them funny looks or resemblance of cow, yogi and other Hindu idol. Gai Jatra is a healthy festival which enables the people to accept the reality of death and to prepare oneself for the life after death.

Maha Shivaratri- Festival of Lord Shiva

Mahashivaratri is one of the biggest festivals of Hindus. People from all over the world throng to Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu,Nepal,one of the most important shrines of Lord Shiva.Devotees worship lord Shiva while some women fast during this very day. Married women pray for the well being of their husbands and sons, while unmarried women pray for an ideal husband like Shiva. In the temple premises,babas seem to enjoy with Marijuana.Devotees also taste Marijuana as it is considered as 'Prasad' of Lord Shiva.People stay awake for the whole night by putting on fire using firewoods and logs of trees.

The Only Living Goddess In The World- Kumari

Kumari is the only living,breathing goddess.Kumari means young unmarried girl.The custom of worshipping a pre-pubescent girl, who is not a born goddess, as the source of supreme power is an old Hindu-Buddhist tradition that still continues to this day in Nepal.There are several Kumaris in Kathmandu Valley. The Kumari of Kathmandu living in‘Kumari Ghar’,at Basantapur Durbar Square is regarded as the most important one and is also known as the Royal Kumari.However, these pictures are of Kumari of Patan taken during Bhoto Jatra festival.
