Testing 1 2 3 weeks

posted on 8th of march, 2012

Tonight I read a newly posted article,  it made me think about what I should be shoot and, why I'm shooting it.

Then I came up with an idea to expand my portfolio.
Each week of the month the month I will be focussing on a different subject,  and I will be using the month of March, as a experimental month to see how it works.

I am starting a new subject every Sunday of the month.  Now since there is 3 weeks left of march I will only be shooting 3 subjects.

Here is a break down of the subjects for the next 3 weeks

Week 1.  Food and drink
Week 2.  Animals or maybe people? Still haven't decided for sure on the one yet.
Week 3.  Night/landscapes.

I really hope that this works out and, boost my portfolio along with sales up.

Sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes. It's not really my high point lol.

Note: The week subjects aren't official yet, but i think that what they'll be.

Her'es a quick update. Week ones subject is animal both pets and wildlife and yes i am keeping my open for the unexpected. Now i was going to only shoot my weeks subject but i felt to restricted, So i am just mainly focusing on the subject and shooting other things here and there. Really though im just happy to be out taking pictures again.

Great idea! I could do with planning some subjects myself...sometimes it is hard to have the creative inspiration but if you actually plan to shoot a specific subject then you can really concentrate on getting some decent shots. May be worth choosing subjects that you wouldn't normally do to see how it turns out. I do agree with Jdanne though as it always good to be ready for the unexpected. Nice shots by the way.

My opinion: Planing is important, but you shouldn't plan too much. Just let it happen! Sometimes you get things in front of your lens you didn't think about and suddenly your inner bell rings and you have to pull out the camera and press the shutter! Keep your eyes and your mind open for the unexpected - even when you shoot "planned" photos.

Thanks every one :). I think one of my biggest problems is i find it hard to like my own pictures. When i was in Florida i spent a day taking pictures of birds mainly, i took over about 350 pictures and only liked about 10 (if that) then i felt only 3 where worth submitting, luckly all 3 got accepted.

@Kphotos6411: i would but i don't have 50 photos up yet.

@Peanutroaster: I saw some of those pictures, i really like them.

@Calyx22: Thank you :), that's my favorites that day. thank and don't worry i will :)

I think this is a great idea. I need to do something similar myself as I feel I'm sort of in a rut and need to start producing again. I just need some inspiration. Love your cormorant shot. Best wishes to you, and please update again and let us know how your planned shots turn out. :)

Similar strategy works for me. Recently I focused on Easter and Gardening and produced a bunch of shots.

If you use children and pets for a theme you could enter in the Assignments contest. Good luck.
