Varanasi is often known as 'The Sacred city of India'. Many people also refer to it as oldest Hindu city. For an India-Tour everyone always keeps this place in their plan by default. We, photographers call it as 'Paradise for Street Photography'. We have also seen some very old foreign people come here for vacations, rent a hotel on the bank of river Ganges and enjoy the ancient ambiance through out their stay.
According to legend, the city was founded by the Hindu deity Lord Shiva, several thousand years ago, thus making it one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in the nation.
The evening worship in authentic style right on the bank of river, the monks, tune of Hindustani music from somebody's roof, traditional laundry place and the pilgrims will show you the image of ancient India. How can I forget about the famous bulls in the alleys. Bull is known to be favorite animal of Lord Shiva and people worship bulls at Varanasi.
