Wow! Today my image has been approved for "assignments"!!. I'm very happy because, this is the first time for me!
So I would like to tell something more about that picture:
The rider dressed as Native American, with a gun in his hand, takes part in a commemoration of Old West organized by the "Butteri" of the Tuscan Maremma in Italy.
Tireless guardians of the herds and custodians of traditions of Tuscany “Maremma”: this is the main task of “Butteri”, the cowboys of the coast of Tuscany and Lazio.
An 'old story tells how a group of Butteri of Maremma defeated, in a singular challenge, the mythical cowboys of the Wild West. It was 1890 and William Frederick Cody, or “Buffalo Bill”, with its legendary circus arrived at the gates of Rome. Someone told him that in Italy there were cowboys too and that they were as good as the American ones. They wanted to meet them and the result was a race without precedent: Butteri and overseas Cowboys are challenged each other for three days to taming colts, marking and in tournaments of skill on horseback. Legend or reality?
In all cases, especially during youth, I was always fascinated by the stories of cowboys and redskins of the Old West. Even today commemorations and competitions with horses such as those organized by Butteri attract a lot here in Italy and are still dream of many young people.
