First architecture sale

posted on 2nd of november, 2012
First architecture sale finally occurred today. I've been with DT 2 months. First sale happened in a few days. Second sale was a long wait, 2 months later. That was suffering! It seemed that a real good picture would sell within not many views. The ones are not good enough are hard to sell no matter how many more views they get. I've learned a lot from you! Thank you!

My way to be simple

posted on 11th of november, 2012
>This month is my third month with DT. I've got 6 sales totally. Five sales happened in this month. The images sold are very simple. I agree that simplicity sells. We all try to be simple. It is difficult. I figured out a way to do it. When I was taking pictures, I spent a little time looking at the elements before taking. I focused on the main subject and tried to illuminate the unimportant elements around it. I tried to have the background as clean as possible. One way to do it is to move around. Different angles result in different backgrounds. Move until you get what you want! The other way is that you must have a tight cropping. Spend a little time looking through your camera's view finder before clicking. Make sure the framing is clean. I don't have a high pixel camera and it is the cheapest Canon...

They are all beautiful images with high sales potential, I like especially the second for his classical composition and well balanced and the third for its asymmetry of lines that converge on the lower left, the architectural details are sold for their use both specific and general, congratulations again!
Thank you, Concetta. I saw your pictures of Haiti. Were you working there?

One view one sale, you never know

I found an old picture of waterfall and submitted it. Buyer downloaded it at first sight in a few days. You really don't know what is going to sell and how long it would take. Just submit everything you have and.. that is it! Here is the lucky picture I didn't pay much attention.

Two sales on Thanksgiving morning!!!

posted on 22nd of november, 2012
I can not believe that I just woke up and turned on the computer as usual, then I saw two sales just occurred. I could not believe that people are buying on Thanksgiving day morning, even though it is a holiday in north America only (that is my knowledge. Forgive me if I am wrong). That is a real happy thanksgiving to me! Thank you buyer! Also, many images were approved today too! Thank you DT employees for working so hard even on holidays! Happy holiday to everyone!! Here are the two images just sold.

The first image's been online for a few days and sold on a second view. It is also my first Editorial sale. The second one's been online for two months. For beginners, you will get sales soon! Don't give up! Even if your images had no sales for a long time,...

Editorial images could get more traffic and sell faster

posted on 23rd of november, 2012
>Since DT's front page has editorial images and tap, making editorial images more available for viewers. I think that is one reason editorial images could get more views and sell faster in a short time. The other reason is that there are so many internet medias now and the demands for editorial images are much higher then before. My own experience is that I just got editorial images approved and two were sold in a few days. I did not believe editorial images could be sold better than royal free images because of of the limitation of the usages. Now it is a really wake up call for me. Beginners, don't be afraid of taking editorial images. You have to be dare to go into stores to take pictures like you are working there. You have to ignore the suspected eyes on you. You would get "caught" sometimes, but...

Thank you for letting me know. Now I have more confidence with editorial images.

ABout 50% of my sales are editorial images, and they sell for 1 or up to 15 credits. So they work very well for me.

I agree with you that RF images could last longer. I think a lot of editorial images with people inside look like snapshots not because buyers don't need high quality of editorial images, it is because it is even harder to catch the moments and make good compositions at the same time. The editorial images that have very good compositions can last longer and they reach more buyers who need higher quality images.
