Get into the mind of your customer

posted on 13th of february, 2013

After reading the blogs and message boards here for several years there is one thing that really sticks out in my mind - that is that photographer's do a lot of talking to each other, sharing information with each other, hooting and hollering, praising and complaining, about being the ups and downs of being a contributor...

...But precious little time is spent talking TO the buyers of our images. 99% of the messages and blogs are from the contributors perspective.

One of the most important things about forums especially in an image based business, is the valuable words, since it is the words which bring the search engines and eyeballs here.

But when was the last time you can across any content which would attact an image buyer? Sure photographers and would be microstockers can find a lot of advice here about being a contributor but where are the tips, instructions, how to's and trend information for image buyers?

You can slap each other on the back about every little sale or talk about your newest lens but it doesn't do much to increase business.

Contributors should think more about their customers than their fellow contributors. What challenges do they face? What would make their jobs easier? How can be help them succeed?

I havent' thought of that. Maybe making a blog post or two directed to buyers on how to use images or edit them easily?
