Look closley at the painting below. Look at the dog's "dick". Now, if I delete the "dick", do you think I'll get an increase in sales ?

I need some feedback. So if you read this, please add a comment with your opinion. Thank you !

Not sure if this is the cause of no sales. It would be drastic to say that people want to buy your image but they wouldn't because ouch, there is this tiny "dick" word. We are not extremely picky or puritan about the words as long as they are common sense. If you feel like trying without the use of this particular keyword, then delete it. see how it goes. - posted by Tangie on September 03, 2007
yeah, i personally dont care if the delete it, but i think you would have more sales if you delete it. - posted by Jen25pink on September 01, 2007
Hi. It's funny cause when I saw that painting that part of it's body focused my attention. I think it's quite ordinary or in the other way to big. Dogs usually has no such a big thing, just sometimes. I had a german ship dog, male and it wasn't so obvious.. It's just my point of view. Take care - posted by Lukasztymszan on September 01, 2007

Stock-work with maximum creativity     posted on 23rd of august, 2007

If you get the feeling that you photographed everything, or lack imagination when stock-working just do the following:

- make a list of your favourite 10 categories

- pick one of the categories randomly and draw/photograph something on that subject

- next day you pick another subject...

..and now a little exercise of creativity... (sometimes its hard to photo something from that special category you just picked):

- open any book and put your finger on the surface of any page at random.... look.. it will be a word you picked.. try to combine that word with the specific cathegory.

Here's an example:

Suppose you have the "business-metaphor" cathegory and you take a book and accidentally place your finger on the word "heart". Then you get the idea of drawing a heart exploding ...

Alchemy of art and commerce - Episode II     posted on 27th of july, 2007

Combining art and commerce is not easy, but it's not impossible. Nothing goes 100% perfect, so you cannot become the perfect artist and the perfect seller together.

(if you are a new reader here is the first article: Episode I )

The cool part is that you can enhance your alchemy with no limits. You cannot become 100% perfect but you can go up the ladder as much as you can and like... and the ladder is infinitely long. There is so much freedom in this.

Now let's get to business. Let me give you some examples. For instance, what I call an artistic approach on Dreamstime would be the picture below:

Now a commercial approach is this one:

I asked myself: "How can I be a happy dreamstimer?" It's quite easy if you look around: have fun and win a lot of $$$ .. duuhh

But there are two specific extremes:

- The genius artist - he wins some money when people like his masterpiece, but he is hurt when the other true masterpieces get 0 downloads for months or especially when they get rejected from the start.

- The selling manager - he is the kind of guy that would do almost anything to sell more... he would work 24hrs/day without interruption. He would not be interested in the content of his work, except its value in gold.. just produce more and sell more.

Now the first loves his work but is unhappy with the feedback. The second is running like a mouse in a cage but as long as he gets money for that... it worths the hardwork....

well I think you need a bit of both (art and business). Doing both at the same time is not easy. Some people manage pretty well though. - posted by Lindigo on July 26, 2007
Well written but... and there is a but... unfortunately it is almost impossible to combine the two attitudes, to mix them inside a single person. Should I understand that you are striving to mix the two attitudes? - posted by Imagodigipix on July 26, 2007
